This incident was supposed to be off the ball, so what the other guy was doing rubbing him all over and not letting him alone, I sort of thought he was justified to ask him to leave him alone, he give him a little push away, but no, ol mate the rubber man came straight back for more, so a quick turn around to say hi, accidently hitting him with a clenched fist was more than appropriate...

Now if the ball was coming there way and they were trying to jockey for best position to take a mark, then fine, but the ball was going elsewhere according to the report...???

When has it been OK to give a guy a rub down behind the play...???

Having said that, I hate AFL, so I hope the game rots in hell, and everybody stops watching it... punch away

Being all over somebody in the run of play yes I can see how that might be part of that game, but all over them in back play, that I find unacceptable behaviour on oxford street let alone on a playing field in front of 30,000 people...

I justify it because if somebody is purely there to annoy the shit out of somebody, he can never say he was not expecting to be returned the total amount of annoyance, plus interest...

Take Crashes away from Motorsport, no one will watch, While its terrible to see someone get terribly hurt, seeing someone get mildly hurt appeals to most humans. Sickening yes, deniable no.

I'm not gonna say it was a good thing it happened or he was in the right but it's simply a case of one bloke aggravating another bloke to the point where he lashes out. We are all human and are not above doing that in the right circumstance. Unfortunate for Barry that he knows his way around the ring (the boxing ring that is ) and unluckily clocked him perfectly on the jaw which is just about guaranteed to put anyone down. Of course he should be punished and fairly heavily at that but we need to keep a bit of perspective and not make a pariah out of him.

Should he have done it.... No. Should he be punished... Yes. Should there be such ridiculous horror at the near "life threatening injury"... No. FFS it was a punch, most of these players take bigger hits going for the ball (and hitting the ground from a specky), And as much as I hate to say it, League has bigger hits than that at each and every game they play. Personally I'm not that fussed by the punch. It was cheap, it was stupid, but I think its being blown out of proportion by the media. They don't have much else to talk about at the moment so they crap on about this and how Staker could have died (lol). Normally people are a little more subtle when they try to take someones head off (aka bump them in play or whatever). Same danger and result in this case except blatantly obvious to everyone. I just loved how after Barry hit him he turns around and shrugs his shoulders "what? who? me???"

I support with one eye... any other team I'd still hate the big bastard but be much less pissed lol. Ben I dunno what u were watchin (maybe a little man on man porn on the other channel ) but that wasn't "rubbing" all over lol. He did his job and really at the end of the day the outcome was unfortunately a 10/10 for what he was trying to achieve. The idea is to put him off his game and piss him off and it worked... just to the EXTREME!
A decent shove from barry hall woulda sent staker flyin and made him think twice bout doin anythin again... crack in the jaw is stupid.
