Had a chat to Ducky last night about this one, and did some testing. I can run this one, unless someone else desperately wants to do it.

Qualifying pb for me so far is a 1:21.6, race lap pb a 1:22.09. Still plenty of time for improvement between the walls.

i'm definitely OUT for this one...will be away campin/fishin/drinkin etc...

I wanted to get some laps in tonight be just wasnt in the mood for some reason :S.

I will make sure i get heaps of practise in over this week and let you know how i go.

Yeah, I wasn't really in the mood either, especially after having to fix my pedals for umpteenth time. Stupid DF Pro...

This is a really tricky car to drive fast here, I usually trail-brake quite heavily with a huge overlap of brake and throttle applications but that doesn't seem to work with this car (works really well in the UF1 though ). Some re-training is having to be done. It doesn't help that Ducky's set is crap...

I'm currently about a second per lap off where I'd like to be in terms of race-pace, but I'll get there.

Hrmmm left foot braking used to work really well with that car. Might just be the set

It's the locked diff that causes me to struggle, because there is such a difference in behaviour between on throttle and off throttle. I just can't nail the corner entries properly.

I find that if you trail-brake with a bit of throttle on (which I do frequently) then the car turns in too much, then as you come completely off the throttle it understeers, then you pick up the throttle again and it turns in more. All of this before you even reach the apex. I have been smashing into walls on the apex regularly, or running so wide with the off-throttle understeer that the times are hopeless.

But I will work it out, unless you want to have a crack at this round, Sambo?

oh by the way arrow, please don't put links to my FTP on lfsworld forums without asking me, I noticed you did it with that race of the century. I didnt have any security on my FTP at that time so when you posted it everyone could potentially see my personal files. Plus my ISP got curious as to why my ftp all of a sudden got about 400 hits downloading a 16mb file in one day. Its no biggie at all mate, but yeah just next time ask

I tried Sambo's set last night, and you're right it is quite nice to drive.

Unfortunately it burns the tyres and is about half a second slower in my hands than the Duck set I was using.

But it has given me some ideas to try, I was liking the way it has better initial turn-in than Ducky's and was generally more nimble, which I reckon is a result of the toe settings you've used. Toe-out FTW!!!

What kind of race pace are you expecting by the way? I think i was doing 22.2's quite easily

I'm doing 22.5s on Ducky's set and high 22s on yours until the tyres catch fire.

I cant race when its on unfortunately and even if i could i probably wouldnt. But im quite happy to help out with testing.

Thanks Sambo, your input is appreciated. It's a bit difficult though when we're testing via the forum, so I can't see what lines, throttle and brake inputs you're using.

Like you said, its hard to get ideas from others on forums. But...

Back when we ran a similar combo for AAL, basically treating the car like a RWD rather than a FWD car particularly on the exit of the turn saved the tyres.

Basically just apply the throttle though the turn rather than just flooring it mid corner, you wont loose much speed and you will use the tyres more effectively.

Its tempting with that car because it turns so well under throttle to just plant it as soon as it starts to turn, but thats only good for hotlapping and even then its not that great.

I wouldnt be to worried about it VT, with that set and those times you cant do much better. I would just go to the race thinking right if i can do that spread again then ill be good, if they can beat me doing a better lap stability then so be it. But I have a sneaking suspicion if you can replicate that you will do well. Good luck dude, and nice work on the hard work.

Im going to take a risk and go with R3s on the front, im using Bawbags setups.
You have to be really smooth and go slower into the corner then u think. slow in fast out, it almost feels like your stopping sometimes mid corner.

im about +2 degress on him the whole time. since he had only 20% fuel. i was using 55% (is this enough fuel vt?)

rest were low 1:22s

By lap 7 the tyres are at there hottest 120-121 front right and start cooling down rapidly after.
i believe by the end of the race i should be able to be hitting mid to high 20s.

I only had enough time to do 4-5 x 10lap session to practise driving smoothly. I just hope they last the distance.

Yeah 55% should be enough, after 45 laps (and 1 hr & 2 mins) I had 2% left in the tank.

Thanks for the advice Sambo, I've found that easing the throttle on through the turn is the way to go too.

I was very happy with that consistency, the only real variations came from the last turn, I just can't do that properly time after time.

It will come down to how well I can get through the traffic too.
