San Marino F1 *SPOILER*
All doubts erased now. Michael definitely is without par. What he did there was outstanding to say the least. BUT
POOR POOR KIMI =[.....apparently he threw his very expensive steering well at the wall very very hard. Something strange from a usual cool collected finn.

Yeah it is a pity he cant just get a good run for once, always something...do you think he is aggressive enough? And it was bad for Kimi too, that must of sucked, heard he threw his wheel across the whole garage....what actually went wrong with it?

Michelin got it all wrong.
Karthikeyan in the Jordan did a better lap than both Ralf and Webber. And an old Jordan just does not lap quicker than a Williams and a Toyota (with which it shares the same engine) unless there is something up. In fact, Karthikeyan's fastest lap was less than a second off even Alonso's! So Schumi's pace had a hell of a lot to do with tyres - which is good, because if the F2005 really is 2 seconds a lap faster than Renault and BAR then it's season over and no one really wants that.
Still, very exciting race and it was great to see a nail biting battle for the lead over the closing laps. Crushing display by Schumi and amazing nerve for Alsono to hold up over the final 10 laps or so.
If bloody Trulli hadn't held up so many people on that first stint then Schu wouldn't have been so well placed but that's F1.

If they did something like say altering the aero packages so that the fucking cars can actually follow each other we might actually see some racing imagine thatExar Kun wrote:If bloody Trulli hadn't held up so many people on that first stint then Schu wouldn't have been so well placed but that's F1.
Wunderkraut not being able to get past Alonso despite being immensely faster is case in point.

the aero effects are down from last year. so its getting better already, the last few races showed that.... in my opinion the once glorious imola has been rooted by chicanes. the only way to get by someone with out tears was to get a jump one someone leaving the slow chicanes... the sweepers are too fast just to thow it alongside and the slowcorners. barcelona will be worse... there is a lot more overtaking on hte newer much w i d e r circuits... ovwerall speed and less mistakes by computers upshifting etc makes narrow circuits so much more difficult to overtake?
i think schumi was just banking points last nite... what a race! both schumi for racing like a demon and alosno for protecting his arse, i hope we now have a championship-battle

Would have been nice to see how quick Kimi was
But that round of the championship is the one to watch as they have all their resources not that far away in their factories. I dont think Michelin got it wrong its just that their top teams only had one runner like Renault and Mclaren for most of the race. BAR have improved but still need Dave Richards to give them a kick along but thats their problem for ditching him. The Williams is a pig of a thing by the looks of it. They really need to get some developement into that thing quick!
One thing I noticed at the OZ GP was the traction of that Renault. Out of the turn at the Clark Stand it used hardly any traction control where the Williams used heaps.

yeah its traction is excellent. Even with the conditions of the tyres they provided great traction. See the mess of a tyre on renaults car after the race? My goodness looked like a used eraser. But down to tyres...i think Bridgestones are better in cold weather tyres where tyre durability is not as large as a issue. Look at bahrain and malaysia....as hot as anything and rarri underperformed. But then again, maybe the 3 weeks they smoothed out the problems of F2005...
still shocked at seeing 13th to 3rd

It wasn't just overheated tyres that slowed Webber, the BMW-Williams post race press release says he also suffered loss of power, so the engine was tuned down to make sure of finishing.Scottie wrote:That was brilliant!
Such a shame Webber being stuck behind trulli, ruining his tires (just like melb) and with Heidfeld able to conserve his tires, get his place late in the race
Just wish a race would come together for him

Makes you wonder what they were tuning it down for, they weren't in with a showing of points ever - so they may as well pulled over and scored some new engines. OH wait - it's illegal to do that isn't it... oh well... make 'em blow smokeBacchulum wrote:It wasn't just overheated tyres that slowed Webber, the BMW-Williams post race press release says he also suffered loss of power, so the engine was tuned down to make sure of finishing.Scottie wrote:That was brilliant!

I think they might want to look at a bit of a different points system, from what you say Bacchulum Webber might get some points anyway but consider if his 10th were to stay. He gets no points at all just like Raikkinen and Fisi who's cars died on them. There's no reward there for people who actually finish the race.
