X-Games
give me this over the Olympics any day. Here's Danny Way taking a tumble. He got back up and went again and landed it, then did another later and tumbled again, then got back and landed it again.

Re: X-Games
Is he the same dude that landed on his back some time ago ?
And as so the Olympics... I would take the winter Olympics over the summer ones any day... Except that 7 only seem to want to show the fucking Ice Dancing. The Toboggan, Luge, Sky jumping etc etc are just kick arse... so is curling for that matter.

Re: X-Games
What had me was the height of the start, and the angle of the ramp. Insane stuff, dudes have balls the size of watermelons. That dude in the blue shirt was incredible, just kept going back for more.

Re: X-Games
Yeah that ramp is insane, they have used it for the last couple of years for the Big Air contests incl BMX, apparently it costs $1 Mil (US), love to see how many semi's is takes to transport it around.
by the way did anyone else see the guy attempt a front flip in the MotoX?
If not here it is:

I keep looking at these extreme riders and thinking "Man they are making Evel Knievel look silly".

Re: X-Games
Yeah it is easy to think that isn't it but technology has a lot to do with the progression along with the fact these guys can really make a comfy living from it so tend to be more safe in how they go about it, remember back in the days the likes of Evel practiced like real not into foam pits and with a lot less protective equip.fourthof5 wrote:I keep looking at these extreme riders and thinking "Man they are making Evel Knievel look silly".

Re: X-Games
except Evel was more of an attention seeker than a stuntman. He didn't even practice his jumps. He'd just show up in a blaze of glory, have a crack at the stunt and then either go off to root chicks, or off to hospital depending on how the jump went. He was lucky that there wasn't more guys around like him. Now everyone does it and does it better.
Back onto this, i've been waiting to see if anyone would try a front flip. I'm tipping Pastrana has tried it but not perfected it. I bet by next year everyone will be doing them. I love idiots with adrenaline, they are so entertaining.

Re: X-Games
Shame he didn't land the front flip as it would have won the best trick comp imho.
If your wondering what did win here are the top 3 best tricks in Moto X, the winning trick is just insane pure gymnastics on a bike.

I watched the rally last night, was a bit puzzled as to how it fit into the X games.

Re: X-Games
the Xgames rally stages are some of the best rallys to watch. Been a fan for years. The MotoX was pretty piss poor this year to be honest. Normally you see something really revolutionary. The silver and Bronze were just backflip rulers so to speak. A trick that has been done and dusted. Even the gold winning jump was not as exciting as some other years. Don't get me wrong, it's all insane. But yeah, not as big of a jump forward in tricks this year.
still beats summer games.
And @ nige, you can't take summer games or winter games any day, it depends a lot on wether its hot or cold.

Re: X-Games
Possibly wasn't wearing a crutch-strap, therefore the lap belts ride up and the whole thing loosens off.
I've watched that vid, and the external view, a number of times and I just can't understand why he didn't realise he had to get a serious run-up for that jump.
You can see that he leaves it in 3rd for the preceding corner, and the car is only just coming on boost as he's going up the ramp. I would imagine they've fitted an "extreme" big turbo to the thing, which is fine for high horsepower up the top of the rev range, but doesn't do much for your low-down grunt. Guess what he needed coming out of the last corner?
