Noice. Last year in VCAS we had the strange experience of Simon, Sue, Eli and Jackson Evans competing most rounds. Usually they drove a crappy old Toyota T18 and had some sidebets with handicap system between each other. Great people.

Yeah, that's one of the good things about rallying; if you do a local club event in Canberra you're just as likely to see Neal Bates and Coral Taylor running a start control.
Meanwhile, Simon Evans just wrapped up his fourth Australian title at Rally Queensland on the weekend.

This is my mate in his Beetle which I share in the Victorian Club Autocross Series.
Would be interested in getting into this at some stage, I don't really have the know how though. I'm Victorian myself. Do you have msn at all that I could have a chat to you about it?
I've recently got back into dirt karting after a 14 year sabbatical. The old man stumbled across this kart in the shop window of a deli of all places. Got it for $400 including a motor! He then located his old championship winning motor, I bought some new tyres and off we go
It's a bitumen frame but it handles surprisingly well on dirt (I used a bitumen frame in my junior days too) and the engine still has excellent pace considering its 17 years old lol!
So your past time really is spending time on the weekend amongst pink bits
I am leaning towards getting into karting - had a trial day at the Dubbo track a weekend or so ago with my daughter. She didn't get into it but I had a blast. My alternative would be speedway, but that does not run on a regular basis.....
Yup. The bitumen frames are a lot stiffer and wider than the dirt karts, especially in the rear end. I've raised the seat about 3 inches off the bottom of the frame so I sit pretty high and straight in the kart but it allows my body weight to help slide the kart.
For the remainder of the year I'll do a couple of rounds at Kadina and the Adelaide club championship. Next year I'll probably race every round at Kadina, most at Adelaide and as much as I can at Morgan Ofcourse my employer may have other ideas....
Just Adelaide these days, I'll be running on September 12th then should be out there for the last 3 meetings in late October and November. I'll keep an eye out for you at the Club champs (shouldn't be too hard to find with that kart
Yeah mate. I've got a different Kart now as Dad bought a new Brown so I bought his old one Changed to Number 5 too.... like the robot! lol. I've just got to change the gearing and I'm all set I think.
What class are you running?
EDIT: Just read that there are 150 noms! 16 Karts in my class (KT Medium) which is the biggest field I've seen. It's gonna be a big day
I run old bastards (Statesman), so basically same engine and weight as you, just a different class. Yeah, should be good with big fields all the way through. I pit out of my yellow Kombi, usually at the far end of the pits near the truck sheds, so should be easy to spot (and drive a beat up Lightning, number 61), so come over and say hi when you get there, I'll probably need a push or two during the day, and I'd be happy to push you as well (and if that doesn't sound suss, nothing does) .
Sambo, the track is basically right between AIR and Speedway city, if coming from the city along Pt Wakefield road you go over the new overpass, take the next left, and then left again, go past the speedway, and turn in at the last gate.
