My Little Driving Experience in Dubai

Post by Vilante »

When I was in Dubai my mate had something planned for me one Saturday. He was SO excited to take me it wasn't funny so I was super keen to know what was going on. We headed out to the race track but there was signs up everywhere for the karting centre so I figure it was that. Sweet by me! Love karts.

Turns out it wasn't kart's, it was proper formula cars :D

Fuck I was excited haha.

It was only a small experience, 20 minute brief followed by 20 mins on the track paced by some Audi TT's. It was awesome though, my first time on a track in any form of race car.

It was only a small kidney track, about 1.2km's but enough to get a nice feel for the car. We were luck to only have 4 people in the group. My best mate and his mate and a random bloke from Aus.

There was 2 Audi's so it was 2 and 2 but we came in pretty quickly and they sent the guy with me to run with the other guys, I was much quicker hehe. The 20 mins went pretty quickly. About 5 mins from the end they brought me in and asked me to back off a bit, I was driving fine but it was blowing smoke so they thought I might pop it. That kinda sucked but I had a good run.

I think I got a good feel for the car. I made it understeer and oversteer. I couldn't breath in a couple of corners so I think I was going reasonably hard. We kept having to slow up to let the others get a gap so it felt good to be much quicker than the others lol.

I was buzzing for the rest of the day, can't wait to do it again!!!!

PS - I got a ride in the passenger seat of an R8 too. Probably the quickest thing I've ever been in, so fast. The sound was just amazing too!!

The best thing was rolling up to a super expensive hotel in it to go to dinner though, felt like a rock star haha.

I have a joke for you. I have a prediction that you are going to walk into a bar, my prediction was wrong and your wallet is gone.

First day on a track hey, I remember somebody else doing that and blowing a gearbox... :)

Looks like great fun, Vil.

Was 20 minutes long enough or was it just right, physically?

Given the Audis there I'm guessing a Formula Palmer Audi was the ride?

@ J - No nothing on timing or anything. You can go back after this and do the bigger course, which I'll be doing if I head over again, maybe they do have on there.

@ VT - I was wondering about that before we started but I definitely could have done more. Not sure how much but I felt fine afterwards.

@ Jiminee - Quite possibly, I've been unable to find out, I should have asked while I was there.

Have you seen the size of Vil's guns? He could drive that thing one handed and still be quickest, ghetto style.

he is so strong that when he changes gears he rips the engine from the mounts and breaks the clutch pedal too. Apparently all his strength comes from his hair, if it ever gets cut he loses all his Power. I think his name is Samson.
