Just watched Risky Business for the first time in what must be 20 years.
I hate Tom Cruise these days and the style of the film has dated somewhat. This was his fifth film and probably his first big one.
But it's still good if you're into metaphors. As a comment on American society, capitalism and business methods - not to mention attitudes to sex, it's right on the mark.

He practices Wobbleology. Its native language is as difficult to master as Latin, and it's teachings come from the Stating The Obvious handbook which is like their bible, or Wible. They pray to Foaud.

Re: An oldie but a goodie...
The bulk of it was by Tangerine Dream. I really liked it because when I saw this film for the first time 25 years ago (in L.A., believe it or not), I realised how much a film could be lifted by the soundtrack. The best example of this I can think of is the scene where Lana arrives, which is probably my favourite scene in the film. It almost looks like a suspense/horror movie, despite it actually being a comedy. Tangerine Dream used one of their earlier tracks for that scene and it gave it an atmosphere which is quite unique. The direction in that scene is fantastic.
Most people will remember it for Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight" but there are other bits in there by The Police, Jeff Beck, Muddy Waters and others I've forgotten.
There's an awful lot in this film and I've only just discovered that it's often studied in film school. Cruise's "Ol' Time Rock 'n' Roll" dance has been copied and parodied many times. There are heaps of symbols and metaphors in it but if you're not into that sort of thing, you can still enjoy it anyway. References to Reaganism and money lust abound, along with loss of innocence, family values and social structure in the US. It's almost like a precursor to "Wall Street".
The more I watch it, the more I like it.
