The son mainly wants it for facebook, gmail, maps etc.
And we've read up on turning most to the functions off when out of WiFi range, so, we might go with that.

I just have a widget that turns refresh on or off across the board. If I'm going to be out of wi-fi range for an extended period then I'll turn it off and manually check mail etc.
