Re: JTM's Supra
Cool man! looks awesome!
I am curious, are you driving with the TC on or have you dc'ed it? I know Supras are a pain when it comes to disabling the TC as it automatically always comes back on when you turn it off.

Re: JTM's Supra
Driving with it on, will disconnect it once we get a haltech for it which is probably the next thing we do after the bottom control arms.
Haha yeh, got it a fair bit sideways out of carousel around the 3:57 mark. Car gets light on exit over the crest and likes to slide a bitysu wrote:Great footage, love the mixed outside shots.
You're clearly driving it harder now, bits of corrections here and there ... hehe

Sweet sounds good, I was thinking throughout the whole movie "man that thing didn't really get out of shape once under power and yet it pulls pretty hard". I thought perhaps the J in JTM might stand for Jenson Button!
What will the haltech give you? Is it just more freedom with ECU? Are you looking to do more fuel maps\engine maps etc?

Re: JTM's Supra
Yeh basically more freedom to tune the engine, aim is to get some more HP out of it. Probably going to do the injectors at the same time, apparently doing the injectors + haltech will give us a nice boost in power without doing anything too extreme.

Re: JTM's Supra
Just found this video on youtube of a guy behind me in our second session.
I backed off to let the evo get away so i could get a quick clean lap. Caught back up pretty quick though

You smashed them, excellent work. Show those 4 cylinder boys that their fancy 4wd systems are useless against a car 7 years older with far better looks .

Re: JTM's Supra
Was out at lakeside again on the weekend and did a QR sprint a few weeks back. The car is going awesome, we have fitted front top and lower control arms and rear lowers. At QR i did a 1:00.3 so getting very close to the 1 minute mark Got new tyres for Lakeside as i had a Stokell day there on Friday and sprints on Sunday so there was 2 full days at the track and the old tyres wouldn't have lasted. I did a 1:00.7 at lakeside, getting close to 1 minute there as well
New control arms meant we could get alot more camber on the front and they also adjust the roll center back to standard after lowering the car. They totally changed the handling of the car, it turns very well and im able to keep my corner speed up a lot more then before. Its going in tomorrow for some work on the exhaust because at the moment it has 2 cats and a muffler, we are going to get the cats removed and a extra straight through piece to bypass the muffler.
Here is a video from Sunday from my first run where i did a 1:01.5, my previous best at lakeside before Sunday was a 1:02.3. I didn't record my 2nd run, but i will upload my last run where i did the 1:00.7 tonight.

Only uploaded the first 2 laps because i then get caught in traffic the rest of my run.

Re: JTM's Supra
Was out at QR yesterday in the rain. It was my first time out on track in the wet so it was interesting. Felt like driving around on ice, I much prefer the dry I was hoping to get under the 1 minute mark at QR this weekend but obviously didn't happen with that weather.
Since last run we have a new downpipe which has removed the 2 cats, so it sounds a fair bit louder now which is good. I don't get another run until early October now as I have a wedding to go to on the weekend of the next run at lakeside.
This is my 3rd run on the day, it was also the wettest run. Had a moment on turn 1 around the 6:10 mark, but generally I was just trying to keep it in a straight line

Also looking to get a Go-Pro HD soon to replace this camera. Our current camera seems to heavy for the mount and just bounces around like crazy.

Re: JTM's Supra
Cheers guys.
Yeh the car is handling very nicely at the moment, it generates a bit of oversteer later on during the runs, Im guessing the front coming up to temp? or the rears overheating? But if I slow down for a lap or so I can usually have another couple cracks at fast laps.
On the day of that video we were using TRD Brake pads, we just replaced the other ones (can't remember the name of them), and they were starting to fade after 3-4 laps. You can see at the end of the video I run way wide into T3, that was a combination of my trying to brake later plus the brakes going off. Hopefully get the racing brake pads back in for Lakeside this month.
And damn GoPro, 1 month after I get my camera they release a new updated version!
