Yep, to echo what VT said - you'll experience maximum performance gains by reducing unsprung weight and increasing the grip of the tyre. So getting new wheels that are the same size but lighter than your current ones plus some good tyres (which will generally be cheaper if they're for a smaller rim size) will give you better handling. May not look as schexy, however.

Thanks for clearing that up VT. As I'm aware, one of the cheapest and most effective mods to cars is good tyres :) but I do want some nice looking rims (at some point). I was planing on keeping the overall diameter the same, but might have gone a touch wider... This wouldn't increase lateral grip?

I'll probably end up doing the exhaust as well and that has no real gain on performance at all. In some cases it will decrease it. A lot of people run unequal length headers to get the 'burble'. I won't be going that far, the RS sounds pretty nice with a better exhaust anyway and still has a bit of that Subaru sound.

I don't have the cash to do any of this right now anyway. Need to save all my money for overseas next year and a couple of lenses I need. I was mainly just curious how you match it all up (tyres and rims).

Giz, did you actually use them? I assume if you put the model in ect on the web site and it spits out the true, that that true would be the Same spec as what we need/use here? I'm not sure if US tyres are of a different composition?

I checked my CX9, 600 a corner locally, 921 ex the states pus what ever delivery is...seems to god to be true...

oh, back on this point: I have been able to get a bit of aquaplaning happening in the car during the heavy rains. But it needs a proper torrential downpour, when waterfalls are forming on the walls of the F3 :) In that case, doing ~120 will get your tyres lose a bit of grip here and there (enough for the tc to come in and the cruise control to switch off).
But other than that, these F1's are the shiz. :D
Oh, and even in these conditions the loss was momentarily only, not the sort where your front end just wanders aimlessly.

As far as I know man the tires are exactly the same. I've never used them myself but heaps of guys on a couple of Volkswagen forums I frequent have and I've never heard a bad report about them.

Far as I can tell from that website they don't ship worldwide.

They do indeed...

I asked, My CX9 has 245/50 / 20s on it. $600 bucks a corner fitted locally.

Tirerack, $1481 delivered....thats a grand cheaper, without factoring in any exchange rate variance.

Add a couple of hundred for fitting and balancing, might be worth looking at, unless i sell it first :)

I have heard from people that tires from overseas are "Illegal" as they don't have any Australian compliance markings on them? Cant say I have gone looking for the markings though!
