What sort of connection is that ? The ping is awesome. What's even more interesting is that it seems to ping the same on wifi...and that's just unbelievable. Never seen anything like it.
NeilPearson wrote: i found that even with those speeds, my downloads wernt really that much faster
Do you use download managers? Even something as simple as a DownThemAll firefox plugin can help. (Multi-threaded download can often work around the artificial per-thread download speed limit, although it really depends...) The overseas bandwidth can also be shaped separately. There are just too many factors

YSU - its Telstra 100mbit cable. I'm guessing Mofo would be using the same connection. I ran a few tests on wifi and posted the best, the Ethernet test was the only one I did, so it could well get better average pings than over wifi.

Often I'm finding the speed is really good. I know EA would have aussie servers, but still really happy with this kind of speed.

We just moved into our new house and the net was switched on this week.
The only provider in the exchange is Telstra so that had me a little worried but we have found a decent plan.
This is shitting on the 2Mb/s that I was on for the last 5 years

Any idea how far you are from the exchange?

See this is why I have an issue with my internet.
http://www.adsl2exchanges.com.au/detail ... b9e6c8a93f " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I have an estimated attenuation of 9, cable length of ~500m.
I am lucky to sync at 14mbps on a good day and often have line dropouts.
You're pulling 18mbps at 2.1km
EDIT: But the people on the phone tell me my service is fine because I get more than 8mbps

What that site also needs is a slider to simulate how far you are from the nearest node.

yeah, the theoretical limit of 25Mbps is the biggest ever bs, you'll almost never get even near that. Most people are around 10 in fact, best 15. And that's the part they're glazing over big time; the right wing's "solution" is no solution at all - you'll get the same speeds as now.
