No.
Actually Astro, have you considered the Mazda 6 MPS. Bit more of a cruiser than the STi, but then again a bit easier to live with day to day. Natural competitor to the Liberty, too.

Think I'd pick a liberty over the mazda, mostly because I prefer the look of it. But mazda does see to be going for less...

The mazda both inside and out doesn't look as good as the liberty in my opinion. I've heard of expensive turbo issues with the MPS too although all cars have their issues. So, Audi out of the question? Liberty GT seems best bet then unless you went something left field like an Alfa 159 JTS or Skoda Octavia RS.

My view on Audi's. Never an "auto" Audi unless it's post 2007.

I haven't heard of too many problems with automatics in Audis. It's the CVTs that are woeful and should be steered clear of in a big way.wabbit wrote:My view on Audi's. Never an "auto" Audi unless it's post 2007.

Think that's it, the CVT. actually might be called Multitronic. Audi want $11k to swap it out. Which happens be more than car was purchased for ('03 model).

The older Audi's in my price range are a bit bland on the outside, apart from that I like them.
Will keep you guys posted as to how things turn out.

My boss went all the way to Tassie for a 2006 Blue STi, it had 20,000km's on it 2 years ago when it got it and it was perfect.AstrO wrote:The catch about the STI is finding one in blue with lowish k's, good condition and not modded... maybe I'm asking too much.
He had a nice drive back to Sydney to celebrate the purchase

Bumping this because I reckon I'll be looking for the same as Astro before too long. Are you still on the hunt for one? I may consider a 2004 though. Probably getting a tad old, but I just don't like the look of the new imprezas.

For now I won't be getting one, although if I find a nice tuned by sti liberty wagon, I'll be upgrading the liberty.

Re: Sporty car for under 30k
As wobbs said, it comes in right under $30k
And I'm sure within a year you'll be able to start pick up 2nd hand ones, too, at an even lower price point.

List. Not drive away. Current demand exceeds supply. Have a look on carsales and see what people are asking at the moment.ysu wrote:As wobbs said, it comes in right under $30k

Having said that, you can try your luck like Stu did and maybe find one in stock. Just don't expect to get it under $30k. Not even a demo model.
