Re: Your guitar gear
I'm expecting to never have any issues with frets on this. All my guitars I have atm are Asian made from Korea, China and Indonesia. My Washburn was Korean 1993 and my BC Rich 7 string is Korean 2010/2011 and the difference between them is night and day on quality. I can't fault the wood on either guitar but the hardware is a massive difference. Also the way it's assembled is really noticeable. Cheap guitars now days are far from nasty and they drop some real gems from time to time. Mexican Strat seem to have a real good following and are much loved. They seem the perfect base for modding too. If I'd gotten a US standard I wouldn't have changed anything on it. But on this Strat I'm doing the pick up change and I might go locking tuners in time too. It will still work out cheaper than a US standard, yeah it won't feel the same or have the same prestige but it will be mine and my mods. I'm going to make it the best damn guitar to play Iron Maiden songs on.

Re: Your guitar gear
My Strat came today and I'm completely gob smacked by it. It feels and plays amazing and it's by far the bang for my buck I think I've ever gotten. $599 and it feels smoooth. I only needed a trem adjustment as the tension was out and it was tuning flat. The neck feels great as it's a satin finish on the back and no sharp edges anywhere. Not even on the fret ends. The pick ups are typical for a Strat and they sound good. I was just belting out Metallic Master of Puppets songs on it, high gain, and it sounded good. On a clean channel it's got the Strat quack. I will upgrade them at some point but if I didn't get round to it then I really wouldn't care.
I'm blown away by it. This is a lot of guitar for little money and I love it! I'll post a pic once I get all the drool stains off it.

If you can get a new geetar then for sure try a Mexican standard. The Strat is bloody great and soooo cheap!

Pic's of my Strat. I love it. Of all my guitars this feels the best in my hands. I like the bridge spacing and the neck feel is great. This is pretty much out of the box. Only changes I've made is a spring adjustment on the trem as it was tuning flat and I put some foam under the springs. The stock set up is good.

Lovely looking instrument dude. Just those two words on the headstock are worth it.

Re: Your guitar gear
No tone control on the humbucker is annoying but normal for a Strat as I've found out. It's a quick fix but I haven't done it yet. I am going to change the humbucker but the white pickguard and pick up's have grown on me. I can't find a white DiMarzio super distortion anywhere, only black. There is a chrome covered super d which is more in the Gibson style pick up that I might buy. The single coil's sound really good. So what's in the guitar works very well and I'm going to apply the fix to get tone control on the humbucker. If that works and it sounds better to me, I wont worry about changing the humbucker.
It's a hell of a thing and the best playing guitar I have. Better than my Les Paul. I've grown up on fender bridge spacing and I prefer it over Gibson bridge spacing. Only thing for me is killing or dulling down the quack from the humbucker. Maybe getting tone control over it may help? It's not a metal guitar but I do want to push it into that 70's/80's British heavy metal era of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. Yet when I go out of phase on the humbucker and middle single coil I still want it to sound like a Strat.
Best $600 I've ever spent!

Re: Your guitar gear
I've just ordered one of these, a Dean Zelinsky Private Label StrettaVita. He is the guy originally behind Dean Guitars, and then more recently DBZ Guitars. Now he sells direct to the public from his website rather than having the extra expense of a shop buying them etc. Chambered body, locking tuners etc. The Z-Glide neck sounds interesting.
There are some really intesting models, the Strat style has compound radius neck and locking tuners for under $500.

Damn, slim LP in the last image.
I'd be interested to hear about the neck.

Re: Your guitar gear
That looks cool. I'd take the pick guard off though to show that nice flame. I was looking at DBZ's at one point but I'm so damn happy with my Les Paul and Strat although I can still improve the Strat's sound. The humbucker isn't much chop, very noisy but does sound good out of phase. It really quacks like a Strat should. :-)

Re: Your guitar gear
about 2 days after i ordered mine i found out they will soon be doing personalised necks. I quickly emailed them and asked if the delivery of mine could be put off until they do these necks in about a month. Just waiting to hear back from them but fingers crossed. It's an extra $50.

Well it may depend on one or two things, so I'll let you know when I find out if I can get it done.

Re: Your guitar gear
That's pretty cool. If you bought it as a gift for someone and had their name on it they'd be stoked. Not sure I'd want a guitar personalised but bung eyed mole would be a good one.

So I got an email back and my order has now been put back so I can get the engraving. Here's another version they do, but I'm getting the first version.
