yeah I saw this yesterday... and yeah I think it's nothing spectacular.
I can see the front wing having a bit more downforce with it being lower, but looks really wierd and there seems to be nothing really flash about the rest of the design.
hope they still take it to ferrari as team no2 though
Last year's car looked nothing flash either. For that matter, neither did the F2004. We certainly have no way of telling how fast an F1 car is by how it looks. I do, howver, like the front wing - looks kind of funky and anything that helps you tell the cars apart besides their shape is a good thing in my opinion.
i would imagine in theory having that scoop down in the spoiler provides more surface along it.. = more downforce i reckon. imagine if you straightened that dent out, the spoiler would be alot wider.
yup, it would be longer tak... but I think it will produce more downforce due to it's proximity to the ground more so than surface area, because the force is downwards, and with the sides of that dip not flat, more downforce might not eventuate... but I aren't an aerodynamacist

The only reason I am aware of why you run things as close to the ground as possible is because the closer the car is to the ground the faster the air tarvelling uder the car goes. The faster the air goes under the car the more of a vacume it creates, sticking the car to the ground harder.
But I quesion how much of an effect an area 1 foot by 1 foot is going to have in sucking the car to the ground, v's the angle of the front wings which are pushing the car to the ground. In fact because of the angles requird to get the wing down to that level they are loosing surface area for that wing/pushing down effect.
