I have a TiT
Or more accurately, TiTs
After 8 years in my VW Scirocco I've traded up to an Audi TTS.
300bhp and 4 wheel drive.
0-60mph in 4.5s

Nice. A neighbour has one and it's a smart looking thing. How does she handle?

Re: I have a TiT
I've barely topped 30 miles so far. It was hammering down with rain, pitch dark and rush hour in Oxford this evening when I left the garage so 30mph is maxxing it out baby! I'll have a better run at the weekend but so far all good. Very cosy, quiet, refined and smooth in comfort mode. Looking forward to trying dynamic mode when I've run it in (only has 12 miles on it so far). Quad exhausts with added farty upshifts
The digi dash though is fantastic. Makes dials look very old school very quickly. Built in google maps and different layouts. Fully integrated phone prep, voice activation, DAB, handwriting recognition for the satnav and all the other gubbins I'll ever need.

How long to run in? I've never had to do that but it must be frustrating!

I'm of the opinion that for "running in" you should warm the car up then drive it as you intend to own it. None of this no full throttle until 1000kms or anything like that. Just give it some beans.
One of the guys in my Renault Sport club owns his own dyno and pretty much every ex dealer demo has higher outputs than cars that were babied for their run in.
Nice purchase, Kev. I love the look of the Audi virtual cockpit. S3 comes with it now too which would be my purchase with that drive train.

I've got no other evidence than the only new car I have ever owned and run-in. I run it pretty hard, and it was running very well.

Re: I have a TiT
I'll be keeping it for several years again so I'll definitely run it in properly. 500 miles under 3500revs and then another 500 staying clear of the red line but then I can open it up. It's a very different beast to my scirocco so it'll take a bit of time to get used to it anyway. I'm sure I can venture up the top of the rev range now and then without any bother though

Takes a little getting used to but it makes dials feel very old very quickly.Vilante wrote:How good is that dash?!

My current car has a huge digital speedo in the middle of the dash. When I get in another car now I to squint to read the tiny numbers on their dials.Big Kev wrote:Takes a little getting used to but it makes dials feel very old very quickly.Vilante wrote:How good is that dash?!

I'd love to have the virtual cockpit. Another 10 years and it'll be standard on anything semi premium. Can option on a base model A3 already.

I think it'll be standard on everything in 10 years time.Exar Kun wrote:I'd love to have the virtual cockpit. Another 10 years and it'll be standard on anything semi premium. Can option on a base model A3 already.
Renault are rolling it out, the new VW Golf has it as an option, no doubt the next gen Polo will too. They already have digital info screens on every car, I guess it's not much extra work to make it show the dials as well.
The one caveat I would say is that it needs a bit of work to be more functional. With that large centre dial layout I have no choice for the 'right side display' for instance. I would like maps on the left and music on the right but I can only have either on the left. I don't need a permanent display telling me the time and date. The time is at the bottom of the screen anyway! I can scroll through several displays on the left panel so why not on the right one as well? If I have music on the left screen it doesn't show album art, but it does on the wide view. There are also 3 dial layouts but you can only see 2 of them at any one time. You can have the wide view with little dials, the main centre dial or two conventional large dials but you can only see either the first pair (sport layout) or the first and last (classic layout), not scroll through all 3. That seems silly to me. If I'm on a motorway I'd quite like the two large dials and then when I come off I'm likely to be on an A road and want the main centre sport layout but I would have to park and go through menus to find the sport layout first.
So yes it's great but it needs a little bit of work and sadly there isn't any sort of email address where you can tell them this stuff!

Re: I have a TiT
Something about Audis they've just never appealed to me, I think it's the common body design/shape that I don't really like. Anyway that's just my personal thing, congrats on the purchase Kev
