Re: Music on youtube
Was watching some early Nirvana concerts last night.
This was in 1991 two days after Nevermind was released, tiny crowd, small stage and probably at their best enjoying what they do!
Then went down a rabbit hole...

Re: Music on youtube
I only found this last night but it's cool. Dimebag lived close to this bar and would pop down for a drink. But he had more than a drink this night.
I would have loved to have met him and Chuck Schuldiner as well. Both died way to young.

Jim Root has done a bunch of these. Its pretty good to hear these songs minus the lyrics and a slightly clearer guitar channel then have him break it all down.

One of those Back to the Future moments.
"I guess you guys aren't ready for that yet. But your kids are gonna love it!"

Re: Music on youtube
Some of this might be considered a bit cheesy or grumpy old mans music but I happened to sit and watch a couple of tracks on youtube from an Eric Clapton concert CD I had called 24 Nights and bloody hell compared to the stuff in the charts these days it was a blessed relief to see real musicians playing real instruments to a hugely high standard. Such a shame there are many bands like this round any more to inspire kids to pick up a guitar or buy a drum kit. Clapton's fretwork is bloody brilliant, Nathan East really has his groove on on the bass and the rest of the bands on all four parts of this concert were exceptional.
(parts 2, 3 and 4 should link on the suggested list)
That then led me to... Phil Collins. yes yes I know..... but I watched the whole of his But Seriously Live concert. Again some exceptional musicians and great songs. The drum duet he does with Chester Thompson is brilliant (saturday night sunday morning), Daryl Stuermer plays some really crisp lead guitar, Leland Sklar doing his thang on bass and a very good brass section too.
And then I found a concert I haven't seen since the late 80s when it was on TV and I recorded it and watch it over and over on betamax! (other tracks in the concert are linked from this one). Brilliant!!!!

Re: Music on youtube
Clapton is a genius, it's just a shame he doesn't have the fire in the belly like he used to. His last few albums have been a bit too much like elevator music.

If you listen to this, keep in mind that the singer and bass player were 66 and one of the guitarist was 70 with Parkinsons disease when this was recorded last year. It's a great song, riffs galore!!!!!!!

I hate it when new guys join old bands but I love Richie Faulkner's playing so much, he's a great fit for Priest.

Re: Music on youtube
Some people just slot in seamlessly. The first time I saw Iron Maiden, Adrian Smith had left the band and Janick Gers joined. He fitted in so well and what he did on stage just added to the show.
Richie Faulkner is the same, a great player, adds something to the show that freshens it up and makes it enjoyable.
