Crazy genres
Since MSFS2020 came out I have been watching even more aviation-related videos, so the YT suggestions algorithm has started showing me a bunch of related videos. I noticed this clear aviation genre of 'hot chicks flying in planes' emerging and wondered is this a more widespread thing?
Clearly its about getting views and engagement from thirsty reply-guys, but it so widespread. Here's some examples I've recently seen - gyrocopter girl who's whole thing seems to be side-boob; this 310pilot dude, who has a blonde wife and films her getting in and out of the plane in revealing outfits; Jonas Marcinko who has a hot girlfriend who wears tank tops. There seems to be plenty of others.
Do you see the same in motor-racing or other similar genres?

Norbs, your examples wouldn't look out of place with a dude doing the presentation. Smith's on the other hand are straight up T&A vids. I don't get the same mix as Smith, but the Norbs examples turned up in my suggested vids - but then again so did GamerMuscle, Squirrel and some "real A320 pilot", although they weren't wearing anything low cut that I noticed while faffing about in MSFS.

iJustine is annoying. I watched a few of her phone reviews and I couldn't help but feel she was more interested in herself then the phones.norbs wrote:I think you are onto something Smiss.

Twitch is also full of chicks in skimpy clothes gaming.

Maybe Youtube and Google just know what you old pervs want to see.
My Youtube recommendations are mostly spot-on - US politics/news, PC parts and MSFS, F1/Racing Sims, Coffee, Cocktails, WW2
Samantha Bee and Kamala Harris aren't showing much in the way of skin.

Being attractive and doing a thing shouldn't be enough to make their motives questionable. First video is the only one that's overtly gratuitous in my opinion.
There was a mountain biking channel I saw a while ago where the guys wife wore a bikini in non-riding videos even though the weather looked bad. It just seemed sad and desperate to me.

Agreed. Ironically nobody draws attention to me when I'm doing a thing.

I'm always wary of this kind of thing online. It feels like a trap. Google is driven by learning as much about you as possible so they can hit you with advertising, and everything they do has that at its core.
My suspicion is a lot of these YouTube recommendation thumbnails are chosen specifically to filter you into a certain demographic. I've noticed (especially if I'm not signed in) there are certain videos that are always promoted, which to me suggests they're used as the wide end of a a funnel that ultimately serves to pop you into an every more specific advertising category.
In short, you could tell a lot about a person by the thumbnails they are drawn to.
On the other hand, Occam's razor says scantily-clad good-looking women are always great for traffic which means ad revenue for the content creators. So it's probably that too
