Experimental 2 day race weekend.
Only 1 practice session, 90 mins on Saturday and then a break and straight in to qually. Be interesting to see if that mixes things up a bit.

Good job you said that or I'd have been hunting to get the live sessions on the radio tomorrow.

And Bottas still wouldn't be faster

I've actually been impressed with Bottas' speed this year. There's still a bit of improvement needed with his race craft but he's shadowed or beaten Lewis a lot more this year.

I think Lewis just has that trait where his average pace is consistently high through a race and while other drivers might be occasionally faster, their lows are also lower and gradually they fall away. It means they're beatable on single laps when somebody else hooks it up but can always deliver in the race. I always thought of Hakkinen and Alonso as having that too.

Well, that's the race handed to Hamilton on a platter.

The new strategy from Ferrari? Stick bits of their car onto the Mercedes to slow them down.
Hamilton got lucky with the safety car but I think he had already pulled out enough of a gap to pass Bottas so was the likely winner anyway.
That was harsh for Russell. We were just talking about how he looked like scoring points when it cut to him in the wall.
When I saw almost the whole field were around a second apart after 10 laps it looked like being a tedious procession but a few random moments and the last few laps brought it back a bit.

It also helps that he can basically coast a lot more often than other drivers. And that he has a team mate that isnt at the same level as he is. It is a pity Rosberg didnt stick around.
They need to do something about a team having this level of dominance though. The money Merc have spent on 7 world champs would keep some of the mid tier teams going for decades. It isnt good for the sport.
Sarc ; my second favourite type of gasm.

There's a budget cap coming in either next year or the year after that should help the smaller teams.

Yeah I agree on that. One team winning several championships in a row leaves me cold, and them winning so easily says to me that the sport is in really poor health. I really hope the budget cap and other rules they're bringing in will address it.norbs wrote: They need to do something about a team having this level of dominance though.
