Really looking forward to watching the beautiful scenery around this track from the really close camera angles it provides.

More massive rumble strips at tracks please.
I expect them to be removed or reprofiled, but it is excellent seeing them punished for going off track.

This Hamilton/Bottas chassis change has been interesting. Suddenly Bottas has the upper hand.

Re: 2021 Formula 1 Emirates Grand Prix De France
Qual results appear to have set it up for an interesting race given Merc appear to have a bit better long run pace. They may also an opportunity to force RBR into a non optimal pitstop schedule. Mind you that will all depend on how the stupidly fragile soft tyre will hold up.
Such a shame for M.Schumacher not being able to run in Q2. That HAAS is crazily unstable in the rear end.
Gasly once again showing how his demotion from the top team may have been too hasty. Good on him.

Re: 2021 Formula 1 Emirates Grand Prix De France
It pretty obvious why, he might have beaten Lewis. He knows that. They never let him change his strategy unless they know he won't be a threat but Lewis's side of the garage always change it up. It's Lewis's team and rightly so, he's the one that they can depend on to deliver week in and week out. Leclerc is one of the few that came in to a big team and forced them to prioritise the new guy.

Re: 2021 Formula 1 Emirates Grand Prix De France
Yeah agree completely. I've said before that it's patently obvious Lewis is often given challenges to stretch a stint out or put in some hammertime laps to make a strategy work and we've seen time and again he can leapfrog from 5th or something up to a podium or even a win. Bottas is always plan A and that's it. If he wanted to get ahead in that team he needed to assert that he wants a different strategy if needs be and that just doesn't happen.
If RBR win the constructors (having finally got someone that can get them double points finishes) I think Bottas will be out (if he isn't already). And if he is out I think that could be it for him in F1. I can't see him wanting to go back to Williams which is pretty much the only seat that will be available. If he does go there you could write the PR interview now about him always feeling at home there and it's a lovely team with nice people that have a vision to improve and he wants to be a part of making them great again.

That is a good point. Mercedes know they can throw a bold strategy at Lewis and more often than not he'll make it work. Bottas seems to only have one setting on Sundays
I wonder where he'd be now if Perez had been given that RBR seat a couple of years ago.

Re: 2021 Formula 1 Emirates Grand Prix De France
I just noticed Perez did his fastest lap on the last lap of the race and only a couple of tenths off Max despite being on the hard tyre. Was he going for the FL?
His ability to protect the tyres is another weapon RBR have in the armoury, and arguably a counterpoint to Bottas saying that a two-stopper was the only way he could have got on the podium.

Re: 2021 Formula 1 Emirates Grand Prix De France
Perez's ability to look after tyres gives RBR a real strategy advantage for me. If they need him to stay out to protect Max or consolidate a podium finish they know he can do it or they can pit him for a 2 stopper and it's fine anyway. It gives them an advantage over Merc because they don't know which option he's going to do so they're not sure which RB car they need to cover off. Red Bull know they only really have to fight Lewis cos Bottas is always going to be 3rd at best.
