I think I will just stump up the extra cash and get the Sim labs rig and find a seat for it. It feels a bit wrong to put a Track racer seat on it, but I can't see a way to get a Sim labs seat here.
One thing for you Nutty. If your FFB is wound up, does it shake the monitors? Not sure if I get integrated monitor mount or floor standing?

Yeah sweet, remember you can just buy cheap generic seats as well as they dont need to be ADR approved. There is heaps of replica recaros/brides on ebay for cheap
As for shaking nothing noticeable, there is ~5mm of left to right movement if you grab the screen and shake.. but I cant say ive ever noticed it while driving.
I like the neatness of a single integrated system but standlone does have some benefits
I must admit it seems strange that as you start braking in that thing, it lurches you forward. Would it not be better to have a reversed Y axis on those motion rigs?
I'm also a bit skeptical as to if you have any more feel for the car moving about, or if it's primarily for feeling the bumps on the surface.
Human brains are pretty nifty at learning how to interpret all sorts of physical and artificial inputs. Years of sim racing, for example, has taught me to interpret a certain vibration/force change in the wheel coupled with certain screen image motion after particular control inputs means my arse is about to overtake me on the right, and a slightly different combination of them means it's going around on the left. So whether it makes sense that the frame pushes forward under braking while you're stationary, or not, your brain will learn how to make use of that information.
Not sure I'd find it all that fun to get shook up like that any time I wanted to sim race. For a motion cockpit I'd just want yaw movement to help feel oversteer/understeer.
I've been building one over the last few months. Hoping to have it up and running in the next week or two. Mines only the 4 actuators at this stage though, not all of the horisontal movement. Hoping to add active seatbelts at some stage though.

Amazing! Chuck up progress pictures if you can! Ive been talking about doing it for awhile, but currently sim is upstairs and dont have the space
In the interests of improving the mounting angle of the new CSL DD, I embarked on a complete renovation of the Strap-on Cockpit. No longer will it be a bunch of stuff screwed onto a piece of plywood.
Introducing the all new Strap-On Cockpit Mk II.
Using 2040 aluminium profile, mounting brackets from ebay and a bunch of 3D printed mounting bits - orange filament is all I had. Plastic end-caps for those sharp corners are yet to be installed.
Future plans:
Permanent power, USB and cable mounting options are under consideration - at the moment there's a lot of velcro holding that stuff down.
Replacement of the left or right button box with something incorporating the 15 button Stream Deck

Not too much to show, but here's a few shots I've taken going along:
The parts, both printed and purchased:
Assembled actuators:
Mounting a frame under my cockpit to mount the actuators to (and adding belts and buttons to the chassis):
I'm mounting the actuators now (but very slow progress because I don't have as much time as I'd like to spend on this atm). Will post up more pics and a video soon.
