If the rumours of who it is are true - and looking at that person's picture on the V8 Supercar site, I'd be suggesting 'roid rage as a possible culprit.

What a fucking knob!

I'm hoping he never does race in this country again. That was complete and utter disregard for the safety of drivers and more so the unprotected volunteers.

I wonder if we'd be saying the same things if he hit Morris, there might be some 'fat prick probably deserved it' :D

I don't think people are necessarily outraged that he got stuck in to another competitor...though that's clearly bad form in Australian racing.

What has people calling for his head is that he allegedly assaulted volunteer officials who were presumably trying to intercede.

Update on Australia's greatest meathead:
Source: http://www.speedcafe.com/2014/12/13/dev ... -tribunal/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
V8 Supercars Development Series driver Brett Stewart will face a CAMS Disciplinary Tribunal following a post-race incident at the Sydney NRMA 500.

A CAMS Stewards investigation has seen Stewart charged with three breaches of the CAMS National Competition Rules over the December 7 clash.

Stewart allegedly engaged in a physical confrontation with two officials after ramming Josh Kean’s Holden on the way back to the paddock.

The charges against Stewart include “using or offering violence by any means towards any person”.

“The Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) has notified Dunlop Series Championship driver Brett Stewart of a request that to appear before a CAMS Disciplinary Tribunal,” read a CAMS statement.

“Stewart has been issued with three charges after a CAMS Stewards investigation into an off-track incident following the final round of the Dunlop Series Championship at Sydney Olympic Park held 5-7 December, 2014.

“The charges relate to CAMS National Competition Rules (NCR) 183: (ix) any action which causes or is reasonably likely to cause damage to other persons or property; (x) using or offering violence by any means towards any person; (xii) any act prejudicial to the interests of motor sport generally.”

An experienced drag racer, Stewart has competed in the Development Series for four seasons, driving Paul Morris Motorsport (well that explains a lot!) prepared Holdens.

Stewart runs the Formula Tech Dyno Centre in his native Perth and is a distributor of Walkinshaw Performance road car products.
He's up for breach of the National Competition Rules and I quote from the CAMS manual of 2013
A person or entity may be charged with, and found guilty of, one or more breaches of NCR 183 (Breach of NCR) and with other offences arising from the same action/s or omission/s
So he's easily up for two counts of assault that the police can add along with his CAMS penalties.

Penalties go as:
NCR 185: Imposition of Penalties
(v) If the Stewards of the meeting (Stewards investigation) find that an offence has been committed which warrants a penalty outside their jurisdiction they shall refer the matter to a Disciplinary Tribunal whose sole task will be determination of a penalty
To save me copying the CAMS manual, he's in for a pretty hefty fine at the least, maybe some loss of points and a permanent record on his racing licence outlining the incident, There's a good chance the Tribunal will toss him out of racing, given that not only has he broken a shitload of CAMS regs, he's gone and assualted some people too.

CAMS:

V8 Supercars has said little to nothing about this on their website.

I've had the displeasure of dealing with a lot of bastards when I've been officialling and hopefully he gets booted to set an example.

I read somewhere he's already been banned from racing in WA. Not sure how true it is.
