Car arrives Thursday. They said 3-4 weeks, so I best get reading.

Need to figure out all the different charger types and where I can charge it.

Excellent. Thanks nutty. There are a few of the AC chargers around us, but anything close we will just charge at home.

We are exporting a lot lately.

Honestly, I only ever use AC Charging for stuff like if im at the shops and they have a free charger and im low ill use it.. otherwise to your point its not worth it as I have a decent size solar at home.

I use ABRP for roadtrips to pick out my chargers

The only wrinkle is Andree driving to Albury and back a few times a year. But that should be fine, there are a lot of charge points along the way, and with a claimed 350km range, she will only need a 15-20% top up.

Looking at plugshare, it looks like a lot of chargers are either faulty or not working to full potential. I imagine you get used to this after a while.

Expect your real world range to be 310 or so KM.. WLTP is closer than most range estimates, but it will be high for sure. Also expect deg to effect your battery, so year 2-3 you would be under 300.. just keep that in mind.

3rd party chargers are a shitshow, most of them are Tritium in Australia, they are known by most EV owners at Shitum..
I would say 50% of non Tesla chargers I have visited have had problems with at least 1 of the chargers.. I have yet to see a broken Tesla charger

Good news is the NSW gov funding for chargers that Telsa has won a lot of, means they need to open it up to all car

Yeah, good info, thank you.

I have seen people chatting about charging MG4s at Tesla chargers. Will need to do more research.

Let us know if ya have any more questions. I posted in another thread about my thoughts on charging from home that I think is still relevant

Home charging is absolutely not an issue. About the only thing I can think of is if we actually need a Zappi or similar. I feel like for the longer trips we can just go down the road to an NRMA charger or the day before, let it charge to 100%

Just get a 15amp circuit, its 1/4 the cost or less of a charger and will do the job. see my post here mate, its all still relevant

Hello range anxiety :D
Congrats!

Be ready for all the questions you'll get asked

How long does it take to charge
How far will it go
What are the service costs
Why are you using electricity powered by coal
How much does it weigh, you know EV's are destroying the roads cos they are so heavy
Do you know the battery will need to be replaced in 10 years and it will cost double the cars value
Are you carrying a fire extinguisher, cos EV's catch fire all the time
Where is the key
Can it do a burnout
Do you know the ships that transport EV's can't get insurance cos the insurance companies wont insure them cos they catch fire all the time

haha great list.. ill go with

How long does it take to charge - Quicker than it takes to do a piss and grab a coffee on a roadtrip
How far will it go - Forever if you keep charging
What are the service costs - Nothing
Why are you using electricity powered by coal - Have you heard of efficiencies of scale?
How much does it weigh, you know EV's are destroying the roads cos they are so heavy - Heard of trucks
Do you know the battery will need to be replaced in 10 years and it will cost double the cars value - Forgot that cars never need engine replacements
Are you carrying a fire extinguisher, cos EV's catch fire all the time - Petrol isnt flammable?
Where is the key - My phone
Can it do a burnout - I wish
Do you know the ships that transport EV's can't get insurance cos the insurance companies wont insure them cos they catch fire all the time - lucky i dont run a shipping company

Yeah, I am slowly distancing myself from people who ask those sorts of things. Its the same as "how long til it pays for itself?" A question I have never asked when buying an ICE car.

In actual fact, this car may cost more to buy and run than an ICE car. But, in the time we have had the kia, petrol has gone from $1.19 to over $2.00. If it keeps that up, it might end up being cheaper.

All I know is I feel way better getting fuel from my roof than paying those price gouging c**t* in the oil industry.

Unfortunately most of the those who have asked me these questions are from work so I can't get rid of them :)
I don't mind answering questions from people who want to know more about ownership but some of them are just shit stirring

I'm feeling the pain with my electricity bills now that we have two EV's and not feeding in as much anymore :)
Not as much as paying $2+ per litre for petrol tho

Well my FIT has been shredded, so I am not too worried about it.

Looking at a home battery soon to get us through 95% of the nights in a year.

I spoke to the dealer about this yesterday, and apparently we just got stupidly lucky. Our car was supposed to go to Canberra, but ended up at Batemans Bay and they didnt know what to do with it, then realised it was identical to what we had ordered.

"Our" car is due Dec 13th. So who the fuck knows what's going on with them.

They'll keep it for your warranty replacement cos you know EV's catch fire all the time

Congrats mate, looks good

3 NRMA chargers in Batemans Bay, all 3 faulty. :D

Had to ring Smith as I thought I was fucking up. Plugged it in at Dan Murphy's and got 2 litres of petrol worth of bzzz bzzz and was on my way.
