Respect, such a legend.

What a great life he had. One of the lucky ones from his era to not die in an accident. The name is still going strong though with Matthew and Sam doing some good things overseas.

Photos have always stuck in my head. But this one has always made me stare at it for longer than a lot of other photos. Certainly longer than anything I've taken. My mates dad has this signed and framed on his wall. Epic shot.

Yes a sad day indeed but to be honest I'm happier he died of old age/complications than being burnt alive in a massive fireball as what used to happen far too often.

That's a great pic! :)

It's sad that he is gone but it's a life to celebrate for F1 fans especially us Aussies. It's good he grew old and could share his stories but the last thing I saw of him on Sky's F1 channel, he was looking old and tired.

Well driven Jack! :)

Fuck I'm deeply saddened to hear this. An absolute legend back from when the word really meant something. On a personal note even well into his eighties the man had a handshake the likes of which I've never seen/felt before or since. Like a Bear (Sorry Denny)

Exactly my take on it. Not many of his era died of old age. That's why we couldn't find anyone from the 60s to talk about him for our story tonight. I suppose we could have got Dan Gurney but not at such short notice.

All difficult at short notice. Our Sydney office might have found KB. I'm not sure if Spencer Martin is still around. Tony Gaze is not well these days but he was older than Black Jack. We were standing around trying to think of who we could approach and get. I confess, I didn't think of Amon for some reason but he lives in a fairly remote area. Derek Bell, not really and I've always found JYS to be a bit too keen on the sound of his own voice...BBC will have done him already anyway, probably along with Stirling Moss.

Sad to hear that he has passed his final chequered flag... I am sure he will get a well earned seat at the legends table in the sky.
