I want to buy a gopro style camera for my company, to attach to vehicles. i'm looking for a recommended model and most importantly a mount that can be attached to a vehicle like in this photo (pencil style camera attached to side of bus).
The suction mount for cars etc would do the job as far as a mount goes. Just have to make sure the surface is nice and clean. But they are very strong.

Yep, suction cap would be fine. Get something that does 60fps as it'll reduce the wobbly video effect.

My GoPro gets about half an hour tops out of one regular battery. With the extended battery pack attached too it ups it to about 1.5 hours. They chew through the juice!

My Hero 3 black gets about 2.25 hours. But that was when brand new. Yeah they certainly do chew juice. You might find it doesn't record long enough for you.
Yep, that's the one. I've had mine stuck to the outside of my car during some spirited driving and it's been fine.

2.5 hours for my Black and that is on video/photo mode.

Thanks chaps - I think in practice, we will only film for short periods of time over about 3-4 hours, but I will get a spare battery.
That one doesn't do 60fps at 1080p although it can do it at lower resolutions. If you're attaching to something that vibrates a lot you'll want the higher fps to help mitigate the wobbly effect you get from the way these cameras capture video.

Yup, that'd be fine. There should be a cheaper model in between somewhere that could also do it.

Sounds like you're going to need a remote trigger too. Who is going to operate it?
The GoPro iPhone app is brilliant. I use it all the time.

It is when it works... My GoPro has lost it's ability to produce WiFi it seems. Tried everything to fix it with firmware etc.

tried another phone Dex? Guy up the road had the same issue. Cant connect with his iPhone 6. Works fine with my old Xperia phone.

Yeah tried in on about 4 devices here at uni. Lecturer was hoping to see how it went recording a lecture, but we couldn't get it going. Ended up giving up on it. Just faulty I imagine.

Chaps - update. I bought the Hero4 Silver and a proper GoPro suction mount (work credit card thankfully). I've handed it over to someone 20 years younger than me to set up and run. Thanks for all your help.

Both my cameras survived an horrific crash yesterday when my daughter cartwheeled her motorcycle over her mate and another motorcycle. Helmets destroyed, children shook up for about 15 odd minutes. Jordan says to me "I don't want to ride anymore Dad" I was like "Yup, fair call, that was a big one and it scared me too". 15mins later she gears up, starts her bike and rides off. I was still out in the field finding camera pieces and she comes tearing up to me. "I'm ok Dad, but I am going to take it easy today" 4 hours later she is still riding.
Footage is spectacular, I will share an edit when I have one for public consumption.
Camera's survived, mounts snapped off both and the case of the Hero 4 black needs to be replaced after the clasp was torn out.
Big day, today we are just watching movies and making lemonade
