Well I won't be able to Wednesday so I'm out.

I think I've managed 1:25's. So I expect someone's doing 1:23's.
Did a 10 lap race against AI (at 97%) on the weekend. I was managing 26's, the AI was doing 24's

I've felt it's a little more twitchy since the update as well but maybe I'm just pushing harder. I'm having to make sure the revs go down more before down shifting to make sure the rears don't compression lock. Staying in a higher gear will also keep it more stable with a bit of understeer.norbs wrote:What are people doing at Brands time wise? Not sure if something has changed but the car is a handful there
Hutchy (I think) said last night that although the brake bias is locked in the setup screen, you can still change it with in car controls if necessary.

Yes correct you can change the brake in car only......slightly rearward worked best for me.......I have managed a low 1:26 so far.DarrenM wrote:I've felt it's a little more twitchy since the update as well but maybe I'm just pushing harder. i am willing to tweak the fixed set if the masses want it, I'm only having trouble with down changes if i don't blip it right. I've been moving my bias to 51% in car.
times. i saw a fellow competitor do 12 laps, 1 was an out lap and 10 where in the 23s with a best of 23.2. which spurred me on to a very low 24

Re: [AC] ARSE Racing, Lotus 72D, Round 1, Wed 20/07/2016
Thanks Box,
I enjoyed our battle in the first race, pity I mucked up the start on race 2. I was hoping to have a long battle with you again. Race 2 was still fun working my way back up to the field. But getting a penalty for a cut which wasn't really a cut, more like a off track on the outside. It gave me a 5 second slow down. A tip for anyone that gets one in the future races, it's probably best to just slow down to under 35km/h instead of trying to slow down letting the counter go down. I got the counter to 1-2 secs a few times to only have it pop back up to 5 sec when I put my foot down. If I had of initially just slowed down to 35, it would of removed the warning at that point.
I'll need to work on my shifting technique, losing 4th gear really effected my concentration. I say that, but norbs was catching me and the pressure was getting to me lol Well done all, cya's next time

Another lap and my gearbox was toast! I'll have to look at paddle shifting but H pattern feels right in these cars.

Well for the most part I enjoyed myself. I was frequently hurting my gearbox, but I wasn't hurting it nearly as badly as it seems the rest of you were. I think I just need to work out the timing of the heel-n-toe technique and even my regular up-shifting. The biggest lesson was not to turn on repairs for pitstops unless you really need them. I had it turned on after I had a bit of run-in early in the race, but in hindsight I should have just driven with the minor damage.
The other bad things are Rift related. For one, no virtual mirror is available in the Rift. So all I had were the two polished bottlecaps that theyve bolted to the side of the cockpit to see who was coming. Secondly, driver names don't appear correctly (if at all) on the rift. It gets a little hard to know who is around you. Finally, the flags and low-fuel warning icons appear outside your normal FOV when looking down the road. So while I had people all over the back of me at the end of race 2, I had no idea they were about to lap me because I hadn't seen a blue flag (if one even appeared).

Re: [AC] ARSE Racing, Lotus 72D, Round 1, Wed 20/07/2016
It's a tough track. You don't get much chance to rest between corners. My left knee was getting sore towards the end of the 2nd race and I couldn't find a chance to stretch my leg out.
Putting the shifter on the left makes it a pain to get in and out of my cockpit and I can't time shifts very well with it on the right, so I stick with paddles. I only use the shifter in sequential mode or as a handbrake for dirt rally.
I spent 3 years on iracing in the top F1 series qualifying at the back of the grid. Never had a hope of a podium, but it was the most enjoyable and rewarding racing I've done.

Don't give up. It shouldn't be about winning but whether you can enjoy the personal challenge and the racing. It's just a shame we don't have more guys racing to give everyone close competitors.hutchy wrote:Going to bow out of this series sorry......not the car for me no chance of being remotely competitive best I stay out of the way.
