I was worried about that, given the PC does OK with what detail I'm used to, but future games might have made this thing struggle.
Thank Sarsi, I think 9 years from a PC is half decent for what I do and have done with it. I'll lay some groundwork for more future proofing :)

2020 Season 2 Patch 1 - Release Notes

iRACING BETA INTERFACE (02.03.28):
Spotting
- All instances of the Spot button have been updated for function consistency.

AI Racing
- AI Opponent Rosters may now be sorted.
- The process for handling invalid AI Opponent Roster data has been improved.
- - Valid AI Opponent Rosters are now displayed even when invalid AI Opponent Rosters are also present.
- The process for copying AI Opponent Rosters has been improved.
- The toggle for disabling car decals and numbers is now available when setting up AI Races.

SIMULATION:
Dirt Racing
- Fixed an issue where drivers during Dirt events were not using the proper helmets or visor tear offs.
- - The Dirt Racing quartermaster has been demoted for this error.

AI Racing
- AI Racing has been unlocked on the following track configurations:
- - Watkins Glen International - Boot
- AI Drivers have completed training downloads on the following subjects:
- - Managing pit lane speeds.
- - Entering and exiting pit lane.
- - Shifting gears with the Audi RS 3 LMS.
- - Using the appropriate gear ratios for the Dallara F3 at superspeedways.
- AI Drivers have received additional training at the following track configurations:
- - Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya
- - Watkins Glen International - Cup
- AI Vehicles now appropriately deposit and tear rubber from the track surface.

New Damage Model
- Visual scrape effects have been updated.
- Opponent cars' wheels should now better detect track bumps and curbing and appropriately make contact if a collision is detected.
- - This change also fixes an issue where opponent cars were snagging body work and/or breaking wheels on the curbing when they should not have been.
- Cars utilizing the New Damage Model should now correctly ignore car and car part collisions while they are in the pits.
- Fixed an issue that could result in car parts intersecting incorrectly.

Pace Car
- The default Pace Car is now the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car (991).
- - The Ruf RT 12R is no longer available for use as a Pace Car.

Rendering
- Fixed an issue where the environment mapping was upside down during night events when the shader level was set to "Ultra".

Dynamic Level of Detail System
- The default Dynamic Level of Detail (LOD) settings have been adjusted from "+/- max" to "-only".
- - This is because increasing LODs, when already over the target rate, may interfere with frame rate on VR and VSYNC devices if the target FPS is not adjusted properly by the user. This "-only" setting is much safer as a default value.

Bass Shaker
- The bass shaker will now only buzz when the pit speed limiter is actually limiting your engines rpm.
- The bass shaker will now use engine redline rather than shift rpm if the car is not equipped with a rev limiter for rev limiter effects.
- Internal cache size is now limited to prevent latency greater than 50 milliseconds.

Peripherals
- Support has been added for vibrating motors in XInput devices (XBox controllers).
- - You can disable this by either turning off all vibrations in the Simulator via the "vibrate pedals" checkbox in the Options Menu, or, to only disable vibrations for XInput devices, adjust the [Force Feedback] joyEnableVibrateXInputWithPedal=1 parameter in the "app.ini" file.
- Fixed an issue that caused Fanatec pedal vibrations to be delayed.
- Fixed an issue that caused Fanatec pedals to not vibrate if the shift indicator on the wheel was disabled.
- Fixed an issue that could cause a steering wheel's shift indicator to stop functioning.
- - After this change, you may still need to manually enable the wheel display in the Options tab.

Clubs
- A brand new Club, "Club Africa/South Africa" has been created.
- - All Members on the African continent have been moved to this Club and have been assigned to this Club in the members forums. These Members have been put in this new Club for the start of 2020 Season 2. All Members of this Club were previously in the International Club.
- - New artwork is available for use for this club in the paint shop.

scottie you will wanna upgrade. I just went from a 3770k (oc to 4.6) with a 2070, to a i79700k both with with the 2070 and it was night and day. the gfx did help a little with, but with the 9700k its so much smoother.

Nvidia have a new gen of cards coming out sooooooonish (rumoured june) that are supposed to be cheaper and faster. so might wanna wait for that if you can

Yeah will give everything a little more time now, Thanks Neil!

I guess it's the downside of future-proofing a PC... when you don't have to upgrade for ages, and then you do need to update, may as well go brand new all over again.

I did 6hrs all up at Sebring last weekend in the RSR, with a DD1 and such a bumpy track you get a bit of a workout and I'm only at about 1/3rd of the base's output. The pecs and arm muscles were a bit sore the following day. One combo that's a completely different experience with a DD wheel is the Indycar at Detroit, I love it but you can't overpower the forces like a regular wheel so you just gotta roll with it :faint:

iRacing.com continues to update its various car models to represent their real-life counterparts as good as possible.
The Indycar Aeroscreen is a combination of a “Halo”-like structure used by Formula One with the added safety benefit of a canopy-like windshield, which should better protect the driver during a crash. While the real-world Indycar races are postponed, the Aeroscreen cockpit protection has already arrived on iRacing’s virtual version of the IndyCar Dallara.

Been a while since I tried it, but they finally seem to have nailed the V8 Supercars. For the first time ever I was able to jump into the new car and feel reasonably comfortable and on the pace. Always used to find it the worst car in iRacing by a country mile.

They created AU servers for our main evening time slots considering it’s mostly AU/NZ racing in it.

The 0215GMT (roughly lunch time in AU) race today goes official too.

Otherwise there’s the league racing on Tue/Wed nights with OSR.

If you wanted to join in.

Indy Pro 2000 And US F2000 Are Coming To iRacing In June
When yesterday, iRacing Tweeted that the Indy Pro 2000 And US F2000 would become available later this year, allot of iRacing members immediately were thinking April Fools day.
However, Marketing Manager at iRacing.com, Greg West now confirmed that both the Indy Pro 2000 And US F2000 cars have been scheduled for a June 2020 release.

The Indy Pro 2000 will replace the former Pro Mazda car at the C-class license level open setup series.
The US F2000 will be used in the fixed setup Formula Sprint races (D-class license) replacing the Dallara F3 which will stay active in its own C-class license competition.
Last but not least, Greg also hints that later on some new short ovals will be added to the racing service to better replicate the real-world Road to Indy ladder.

The first in-game previews (or renders) will be revealed later this week.

Greg West Quote:
Utilizing the same chassis, the Tatuus USF17 and Tatuus PM18 represent the first two steps in the Road to Indy program. After conquering the USF17 in US F2000 action, drivers get to play with 100 more horsepower, more aerodynamic options, and larger tires with the PM18 in Indy Pro 2000.

Upon release, the US F2000 will be used as a more appropriate car in the fixed setup Formula Sprint races at the D-class license level, where it will replace the Dallara F3. The Dallara F3 will remain in its own series at the C-class license level.

Upon release, the Indy Pro 2000 will replace the former Pro Mazda car at the C-class license level open setup series. The Pro Mazda will be renamed as a “Legacy” car and removed from official racing. Any user who purchased the Pro Mazda within the last two years will receive the Indy Pro 2000 for free!

Finally, future seasons at both levels will see the addition of a couple of short ovals run in real life to more closely replicate the real-world Road to Indy ladder. (looking at you IRP)

Stay tuned for images later this week!

I get why some real life drivers look at sim racing as just a video game but it seems a lot of the guys in the Nascar, Indycar and Supercar series are taking it pretty seriously which is cool to see.

I think the ones who are getting a prod in the back from their sponsors are putting in the effort - plus there are the guys like Dale Jr, Scotty Mac and SVG who just love doing it regardless.
But it can certainly be a good boost to your 'brand' and create a real social media presence which certain sponsors would just lap up.

iRacing deployed the 2020 Season 2 Patch 4 for their online racing service. This Patch includes a number of updates and fixes for the 2020 Season 2 Release.

CHANGE LOGS:
iRacing BETA UI - (03.05.05)

SIMULATION:
AI Racing
- New AI content is available!
- - The following tracks are now available for use with AI Racing:
- - - Charlotte Motor Speedway - Oval - 2018
- - - Kentucky Speedway - Oval
- AI Drivers have completed lessons on the following topics:
- - Oval driving tactics.
- - Driving through tight areas of the track, especially with traffic.
- - Calculating the ideal speed for their current location on the track.
- - Reacting and stabilizing when forced to switch their driving line.
- - Fuel use strategy.
- - Exiting the pits during Practice Sessions.
- - Lateral movements during pit entry and exit.
- - Post-collision pit return strategy.
- - Passing the field as a Lucky Dog.
- AI Drivers have received some additional training with the following vehicles:

- - NASCAR Cup Series Ford Mustang
- - NASCAR Cup Series Toyota Camry
- AI Drivers now have a greater margin for error when calculating fuel strategy.
- AI Vehicles now utilize more accurate tire conditioning and tire degradation characteristics over the course of a race.

Pace Car
- Fixed a race control issue where cars that have run ahead in the pace field and are ahead of the leaders as the pace car triggers either "Two to Go" or "One to Go", can essentially hijack the "lead" of the pace field and trigger race control to throw the Green Flag based on their position, even if they have run half a lap ahead of everyone else, causing a very early Green Flag while the pace car is still on the back stretch.
- - This fix identifies these naughty cars that are ahead of their pacing placement and it will ignore them, preventing the pace car hijacking from taking place.

Flagman

Last year, iRacing announced that with the help of famous iRacing ambasador, Dale Earnhardt Jr. they would try to laserscan the Historic North Wilkesboro Speedway.
This classic venue started to host races in 1949, but is currently closed for the public and in a degenerate state. Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his team, JR Motorsports helped to initiate the cleanup of the speedway in order to make it possible for the iRacing development team to laserscan the speedway. Dale himself never raced at North Wilkesboro, but his father, the late NASCAR superstar Dale, Sr., raced at the track from 1979 to 1996, winning five times.
Yesterday Dale Earnhardt Jr. shared the first in-game WIP screenshot of the upcoming track on his social media account, and hinted that the track will become available on the iRacing service in June of this year.
