No Pressure Knappo but I have modeled up some higher detail versions of the new BMW wheels. They are ready to do the first AR render once the skin is complete Need to adjust the tread texture a bit but they should look pretty neato on a new model.

I Just use the native Lightwave renderer. It has had some significant changes of late which have made massive speed increases and quality improvements. Good fun doing the Beta testing as well as I get constant updates.
I have a better render that I will chuck up when I get home from work.
All the objects I create can be exported in 3DS format and OBJ.
Why do you ask sir?

Now lets hope they release the skin template a day or 2 earlier than the car like they did with the BF1.
Great work on the wheels Righty. Cant wait to see what you churn out over your holidays you bastard!!!!

Just interested. I use Studio Max with V-Ray and I've noticed that all the different renderers are getting much closer to each other in terms of appearence and quality these days.Righteous wrote:I Just use the native Lightwave renderer. I'm about to do a major system upgrade... more like I am building a new machine. Currently on my AMD64 3700+ with 2gig of PC 3200 ram, that took about 2hours and 15 minutes. But the actual res I rendered it out as was 3840x2160. I had the AA and global illumination settings cranked up to "Print" standard so it's pretty crisp.SE1Z wrote:far out.... great work!
out of interest... what are the PC specs for the machine you use to render, and how long does it take (for the render above) ?
Half that res would hae taken roughly around an hour. It's not really a linear increase. Twice the res tends to mean more then twice the render times in my experience.

sure there is probably a few. try master skinners, i think there is a thread on it. And there are quite a few tutorials there, wouldn't be suprised if there is a rendering one. I have the gear to do it. But i have not taught myself as of yet, kinda deliberately cos i dont need any more hobbies.r8response wrote:is there a tutorial somewhere for rendering? wouldn't mind giving it a go sometime

Yep, but they're really low poly. I agree that they're a bit wide (they're early 90s F1 ). I was just trying to get the car into max and set something up really - but i'll go make the wheels a little narrower now.Hz-Lab wrote:wow that render looks incredibly good. Dunno about the wheels though. Those fronts are way too wide. Did the original wheels come with the model at all?
So ummm... skins?
edit:
Skins work woohoo! (I'm new at this LFS rendering thing in case that hasn't quite come through ) Narrowed the wheels too now. Will have a go at doing more stuff tonight.
