Re: Proud to be a Claret
Tha livin shite well and truly beaten out of em.... just for you Montey
Clarets 3 Mackems 1
Clarets went ahead through an early penalty only to concede a late equaliser at the end of the first half due to some lax defending again (similar probs as against Liverpool). Sounds like we got battered a bit in the second half until Coyle brought on recent signing David Nugent who promptly scored twice to secure the victory
6 games into the season and we're 100% at home and 0% away, a change in away form is due at Spurs next time out

Re: Proud to be a Claret
Watched the game.... Burnley played a fairly solid game, but Sunderland were absolutely gash! There attacking was woeful and their defending was beyond describing.
Clarets well and truly deserved this game.....

Re: Proud to be a Claret
well done lads
A lady at work was chatting to a customer yesterday who happened to be mates with a Burnley coaching staff member. She was telling him how I give updates on progress in my team meetings etc. He was blown away that a group of Tasmanians were on board the Clarets

Defeat last night in the Carling Cup away at Barnsley 3 - 2. Clarets made the semifinal of this comp last year, not to be this year

Re: Proud to be a Claret
Your probably better off being out of the various league cups. It means the team can concentrate on remaining in the PL and not having to risk additional wear-and-tear on the squad.Johnny X wrote: Defeat last night in the Carling Cup away at Barnsley 3 - 2. Re: Proud to be a Claret
Your very probably right Montey, although they played more games last season than anyone bar ManUre
I have a theory for the next game away at Spurs in the Prem. So far we have lost every away game we have played in the white away kit. We have won every game played in the Claret home kit. Spurs play in an all white kit at home which means we will be playing in our home kit.... ipso facto our first 3 away points ... hopefully

Going to be tough, Spurs are playing well, all their strikers seem to be firing. I don't think Burnley will grab three points at White Hart Lane.

Away at Spurs this weekend, time for the Clarets to start picking up some points away from Fortress Turf Moor. Both sides have injuries to contend with, we might scrape a point methinks

Re: Proud to be a Claret
Another shocking away day for the Clarets...
Spurs 5 Clarets 0
Bit of a trend appearing as well, last 4 away games have gone, 2-0, 3-0, 4-0 and then 5-0. The really bad thing about this is that the next away game is at our most hated rivals Bastard Rovers (Blackburn). A big defeat there will be the worst result imaginable.
I'm off out to get drunk .....

HAHA. No real surprise from Spurs, they're doing great at the moment. Shock of the weekend though, Chelsea losing to Wigan. Now those red bastards are top.
Further down the order though, Leeds won again . Fingers crossed can stay in top two to get in the c'ship.

Re: Proud to be a Claret
well this week ends the bank year. as such we break our team apart and all my team disperse to another manager (I keep some of them in my team)
anyhow, we had a team meeting this week and they presented me with a card and a gift (cos they love me). This was on the front of the envelope they gave me. an artists impression of me

Brilliant...
This weekend fixtures
Back to Fortress Turf Moor to take on Birmingham City, fellow promoted team and 2 points behind us in the table. Clarets are suffering from more injuries and our small squad is going to struggle to get a competetive team on the pitch for the next 2 or 3 weeks

Re: Proud to be a Claret
Another 3 points at Fortress Turf Moor...
Clarets 2 Birmingham City 1
By all accounts a scrappy affair in the first half but the Clarets came out battling for the second half taking the lead through Fletcher and could have been 3 up within 10 mins. Bikey scored a screamer to increase the lead with Birmingham getting 1 back in the 5th minute of injury time at the death
Next up it's the first of the hugely anticipated wars against Bastard Rovers... Celtic V Rangers, Man U v Man City, Liverpool v Everton pale into insignificance when it comes to one of those rare meetings between The Clarets and The Bastards...
... time for our first away pointsThough the enmity between Burnley and Blackburn Rovers supporters is fairly well known, a rivalry between two former cotton towns eight miles apart does not normally amount to much in the grand scheme of things, for the simple reason that the two clubs are not normally playing each other.
One has to go back to 4 April 1983 for the last League meeting of the Rovers and the Clarets, an occasion distinguished, if that is the word, by a lengthy stoppage in play caused by Burnley fans setting on fire and partly demolishing the old Ewood stand that housed them.
Ah, the good old days. Burnley supporters claim they were merely drawing attention to the urgent need for urban regeneration in Blackburn,

Re: Proud to be a Claret
This Weekends Fixtures
The Big One... playing tomorrow Bastards v Clarets
Carn Clarets, time for our first away points of the season and a memorable vitctory over the auld enemy
Hehe... a bit of pre-match fun and games from the Clarets fans. Jack Walker (Walkersteel) was an owner of Bastard Rovers in the past and he has a statue at the ground, a few of the Clarets fans went over to Blackburn the other night and "changed jacks allegiance". Photos and video here Jack's a Claret
Final score... Bastards 3 Clarets 2
Clarets scored first after 4 mins thanks to another Blake screamer but Bastards equalised 4mins later then went ahead through a dubious goal. Bastards increased the lead coming up to half time. Clarets changed formation to go 4-4-2 in the second half and did much better. Our second goal came in the dying minutes setting up a grandstand finish but all that came out of that was the Burnley keeper almost being sent off
Still no away points but our first away goals Back to fortress Turf Moor for the next one....
.... slightly dissapointed....

Back to Fortress Turf Moor this weekend to face Wigan... Preview
Result: Clarets 1 Wigan 3
Sadly the Clarets are being found out now methinks, shipping too many goals again despite going ahead after only 4 mins. A bad day all in all with The Beast (Jensen, the keeper) being taken off with an injury and Blake being sent off near the end. The 100% home record has gone and the squad is thinning...... There may be trouble ahead....

At home again this weekend to take on Hull City. Some talk of Hull manager Phil Brown up for the chop, hopefully that isn't going to spur them on to a win.
Needing a win to get back on track...

Was there an update on what injury The Beast has? Good chance for Burnley to win this weekend, Hull are shambles.

Re: Proud to be a Claret
The "official" line is that Jensen has a sprained ankle and has not trained during the week to give him a chance to recover and be available for the game today. The general opinion is that it's not a sprained ankle but an acute case of embarrasmentitis after he foolishly rushed out and fell over in an attempt to stop Wigans equaliser last week.
From what I have seen, Jensen is having a bit of a howler so far far this season. He's taken to coming way off his line and exposing an open goal too much this year, not helped by our poor defending. In fact some folks are starting to criticise Owen Coyle for being tactically naive and you would have to agree to some extent. Defensively they are a mess and are not playing anywhere near as well as last year. Hopefully today will see a change in fortune and a return of the spirit that was evident last year.

Re: Proud to be a Claret
Back on track for the Clarets !!
Clarets 2 Hull 0
A brace from ageing midfielder Alexander, 1 dubious penalty and a 25yrd screamer. Hull had a perfectly good goal dissallowed and one man sent off. Not looking good for Phil Brown.
The win takes us back up to 10th and only 3 points behind Liverpool who lost again with two sent off.
A busy day in the Premiership for refs today, 8 players sent off.
Next up is another toughie for us away at Man City, they are the new moneybags team and are expected to do well this year, let's hope that we can knock them off thier pedastal like we did ManUre
