it took me a while to figure out what happened. There was an indoor soccer player who died from a similar thing, slid to get the ball and a big splinter went up into his guts. There's a video of it somewhere but once was enough for me. Especially as i knew what was coming.

The most interesing thing about it all was the lack of blood.
Goes to show how much muscle is in his lower leg & I guess he was lucky not to catch a large leg artery.

Not removing the splinter would've stopped the blood loss. It looked really clean though, like the splinter wasn't some feral splinter from the scrub, but almost "metallic" in it's appearance.
