meh, if the phones are the same price i'd probably go with the Edge just because it does a couple of extra things and i like the way it looks being rolled on the sides.

Slightly different take on the standard drop test.

Samsung's response and some of the comments are on the money.

Re: Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge
I've never been a big fan of the galaxy phones but the S6 is a great phone by all accounts. Think I'll be upgrading from my trusty HTC One M7, HTC have dropped the ball these days and the major things I never liked with Galaxys like the amoled screen's over saturated colours and touchwiz are massively improved. I haven't had a removable battery or micro sd slot for years so that doesn't bother me at all, the only thing I wish it had which I'll miss is the front facing speakers of my HTC. Not that I use the speaker phone a lot but good front facing speakers make a big difference.
From what I've read and all things considered to me the S6 is clearly the best phone on the market at the moment.

Re: Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge
TBH the battery may not be a biggie - if the default one is strong enough. But the lack of storage expansion is a fugly thing. If you buy a bigger phone it costs 5 times the price of a card - and you can't simply remove the card with the data and take it to the next phone. If you phone dies, your data dies with it. Not cool.
Surprise, no sig. Now there is. Or is there?

Re: Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge
i got to have a play with the S6 and S6 Edge the other day. While the Edge doesn't add a whole lot from a functionality point of view, the aesthetic side of it is stunning. Something about watching things roll in and out from each edge, and also just when viewing a pic it gives it a really nice look. Everything just looked nicer for some reason. And it's got a very nice feel when you slide your fingers from side to side and don't hit a hard edge. Until you use it you don't realise it was something you needed, then when you go back to your old phone it suddenly feels obsolete. The only downside i saw to it is it made the back edge a bit sharper compared to the softer feeling side of the standard S6, which looks almost exactly the same as the S5 from the front but somehow beautiful from the side, back and bottom. From a design point of view the S6 can hold it's head up against the iPhone for a change.
The display is a huge improvement over the old Samsungs like the S5, which were overly saturated. While the S6's amoled screen is still bright and colorful it isn't overdone anymore, and touchwiz is now actually a pleasure to use rather than feeling bloaty and ugly. Everything you do seems to happen in an instant so i'd assume they've trimmed touchwiz right down but i think a lot of it is also the new processor they are using. I went and played with an S5 and a Note 4 for comparison and they seemed like phones from an old generation, rather than devices that have come out in the last year. It's actually surprising how much improvement some of the brand new phones are over last years models. The LG G4 is out soon and looks to be as good or better than the S6.

Re: Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge
Nah just the normal one. The sharper edges on the back put me off. I like nice nice round sides. The camera is amazing, i haven't taken anything of note yet but even just snapping pics at home is blowing me away compared to my old phone.

Re: Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge
The screen is so bright i have to have it on about 30% during the day, and this is borderline too bright when it's dark.

Re: Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge
I've taken some pics in varying light to see how it copes. So far so good. It's not slr standard but it'd be able to replace the average point and shoot. Apparently there's an update coming soon that will allow you to shoot RAW as well as jpg.

Yeah the S5 is similar in camera performance, pretty damn good for a phone, eh?

That looks like the station near where my brother used to live in South Yarra.

Re: Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge
These look pretty good. I've always had HTCs because Samsungs have felt really cheaply built and I much preferred Sense UI but the S6 looks like a big step up. I'm not out of contract for another 12 months so maybe the next HTC will be worth it but the One M9 is pretty underwhelming.

Re: Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge
I was the same Mick. I had the HTC One M7 and i loved the build quality. Until the S6 came along i wasnt overtly fussed with the last few Samsungs. But they really cleaned up the interface and also made them look like a nice phone on the outside. I almost went for the M9 but there must wasn't enough difference from my old phone. It's hard to fault this one.

Re: Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge
How do you go on the battery Woodsy?
Its a kick arse phone but the lack of SD card is whats pushing me towards the G4. I have a qi charger on my desk at work and home so battery wouldn't worry me too much as an office worker but ive always wondered how it would fair for a tradie.
The M9 is kinda tanking in sales. A lot is due to there being stuff all real difference to its predecessor.
