Put it this way. I signed up for a free month (aussie only) and cancelled it after 5 minutes because the selection was crap.
Went to my brothers house who had the US version and i was straight back home signing back up.

Depends what you use to stream. I adjusted the DNS on my xbox one to one that Neil gave me and it works fine. Or a chrome extension called hola

Is ps3 netflix image quality any good? iview is not only very slow (due to being flash I assume) but looks crap compared to running it on the pc. It'd be convenient if I could set the ps3 up for the US site and use chromecast+tablet for the AU site.

Hola seems pretty shit on the nexus 7 and didn't work last time I tried it.

185.51.194.194 set that as primary DNS. Works good on my xbox one and my net only syncs at 3.8mbit and streams 720p fine after a minute or so.

Yes, it's perfect - if your network can stream it, you can see it in its full glory. HD stuff looks awesome :)
(I use a dormant ps3 for this) Just ensure your HDD in the ps3 is OK, otherwise all sorts of misc errors will appear; eg sound is there, but the picture is not continuous. I had to replace mine recently, lucky I had a smaller 64G SSD lying around. It takes a normal 2.5" drive.
Surprise, no sig. Now there is. Or is there?

Did you guys ever check what of your traffic is re-routed & where? And do you really trust someone to give you a free service out of goodness of heart - out in the wild word somewhere ?
An open DNS solution like this is...well, open for abuse.

If I were you, I'd buy getflix. Costs peanuts, works well, same sort of solution (technically), the server in Australia, and a better peace of mind that they're not out to screw you at some point by re-directing something that you really did not want to (say facebook or, oh, wait: how about bank?) and stealing your password with a man-in-the-middle attack.

If that's not worth $3/month - without lock in either ....

Thats a fair point ysu but the DNS is only on my xbox one and i don't use that for anything online other than netflix and has no link to CC etc would i be at much risk? atm too i am not even paying for netflix for 9 months so $3 a month i can probably handle haha. I might look into it. Thanks

well, in that case all you can lose is the xbox account :)
No big danger indeed.

Having said that, the reliability might still worth the money.

Thanks for that. It gave me the impetus to at least give the trial a run. Any idea how long that code is good for?

Shoving all the Netflix traffic down my VPN does work, but it is often a less than smooth experience.

Are you trying to stream it using a Chromecast? Because they will override the DNS settings for their own so you have to block them at the router. https://getflix.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/ar ... Chromecast

I've always found it weird. At peak times like between 5 and midnight my connection is so shit i can barely load a simple web page sometimes. But netflix will go without issues. Almost defies logic lol

Netflix have distribution points locally (even within some isp's network) and the website you are accessing may be overseas.
