Fantastic effort by Casey Stoner, taking Pole Position in only his second race of the season....

"I didnt expect to be up here for at least a few years" a stoked Casey Stoner said in the media conference after final qualifiying...

Capirossi took second and Elias third.

Hayden
Pedrosa
Rossi
Gibernau
Edwards
Nakano
Roberts Jnr rounded out the top 10
Vermulen grabbed 11th place which is pretty damned good...

Rossi won his second ever race at Qatar last nite.

Starting from sixth on the grid he came through to take the lead of Casey Stoner who lead the first 10 laps of the race, to secure a win only a second ahead Nicky Hayden with Loris Capirossi taking third.

Nicky Hayden had a fairly good race, competing well for the top step of the podium most of the race. Although he lead the race for only one lap, he did admit the bike was capable of the win. Nicky mae a crucial mistake sliding his bike on a high speed left handed corner, which gave Rossi the breathing room to take the win.

Caprirossi did very well to take third spot after admitting that the Ducati's and Bridgestone have always struggled with this circuit. Loris admits that he had a great race with Stoner, but accepted third spot given that the bike just wasnt as fast around the track as the Honda's or Rossi's M1.

Sete Gibernau took 4th spot three seconds ahead of the pole sitter Casey Stoner...

Both Suzuki's DNF'd in a poor round, although Chris Vermeulen was still happy with the progress they had made this weekend and is looking forward Round 3 in Turkey.

LOL yeah saw Hopper retire. Rather amusing that.

Tyres were Stoner's issue.
