Armstrong breaks his clavicle.
Just read this on Armstrong's Twitter feed.
I'm alive! Broken clavicle (right). Hurts like hell for now. Surgery in a couple of days. Thanks for all the well wishes.
Hmm. Interesting.

Re: Armstrong breaks his clavicle.
A recent post on Twitter from his manager.
All went well. Lance is in recovery. Same guy just 12 screws in his collarbone. Higs
Seems a bit more than a simple fracture if they are screwing it together.

That and they might want it to heal quicker than normal.norbs wrote:Seems a bit more than a simple fracture if they are screwing it together.

Re: Armstrong breaks his clavicle.
I guess it depends on the fracture and how quick he wants to be back.
Remember MotoGP & Superbike riders have them pinned often & I have seen on a lot of occasions they can be back up and riding in 3 weeks, in these cases I guess they opt for the surgery to reduce their recovery time.
Be interesting to see how Lance's recovery goes form here.

March 25, 2009 - Austin, TX - Lance Armstrong had successful surgery today to repair what doctors originally thought was a “simple” fracture of his clavicle (more commonly referred to as the collarbone). “This was not correct,” said Dr. Doug Elenz, an Austin orthopedic surgeon who frequently operates on athletes. “It was not in two, but four pieces.” Dr. Elenz, along with another surgeon and physician’s assistant, used a five inch stainless steel plate with 12 screws to repair Armstrong’s fracture. He noted that this was more than they would normally use, but necessary based on the extent of the fracture.

From todays paper headline "Not so Arm Strong". Shocker that, but I liked it.

Re: Armstrong breaks his clavicle.
Pretty unlikely I'd say. Broken clavicles are an awfully common cycling injury. The doctor who set mine said that if you're going to break a bone, that's the best one to break because the recuperation is pretty easy.nutty wrote:Damm, I hope it doesn't disrupt his tour campaign too much..
*EDIT* Okay, just realised it's in four pieces. That will make it a bit harder.

If he is on anything, it must be the dogs bollocks. I follow him on Twitter and he gets drug tested so often it is ridiculous!w00dsy wrote:the roids will help it heal quicker.

Lets hope not, at least he has the backing of the principal organiser.
