Re: Car Insurance
Was with Elders, because they were one of the few companies that would insure my car, as its an import (Hilux Surf).. At first the price was decent, around $500 a year for full comprehensive, but they just kept jacking up the price until this year I think it was over $800.
I rang Shannons who some time ago loosened their restrictions on who they'd insure, and got a quote for around $450 online. Rang up to confirm it and the guy told me the price would actually be $380 (or there abouts, cant remember now) and also upped the agreed value! Was stoked.
I also insured the womans pulsar, and after a bit of ringing around found SGIC to be the cheapest - recently changed my house insurance to them as well and saved 10% on both policies.

Re: Car Insurance
It irritates me a lot when I go through the online quote process to get something completely unreasonable ($1200) to insure a car, when AAMI is quoting $580. How does it vary this ridiculously?

Re: Car Insurance
They actually rang me this morning and said they could see if they could bring that quote down, so I assume they know there is issues with it. I thought I'd play along and see what they could do. After a while of generally chatting, they asked me what the best deal I'd found was.. when I told the guy AAMI quoted about $580, he went silent for a bit, then said "580!!??" and went on to say they couldn't match that and the best they could do was around $850.

AAMI. We got ran into early 2010 and had our car written off. They were incredibly good to deal with at any time of day. We had the accident at about 5 in the morning and had a hire car by 9:30. Can't recommend them enough.

Dvestate, are they giving you a good price? They quoted me something ridiculous. Seems ok if you insure a car that's only driven on weekends but no good for a daily drive.
AAMI and GIO seem the best so far, GIO is actually better for what they cover but AAMI dont mind car mods as much

I'm an RACV member so I get all the roadside assistance etc. But there car insurance was around $800+ which seems a bit much.

Re: Car Insurance
They are the cheapest for my XT Forester, and pretty much on par with the Pulsar (my daily)
