Douglas Skyraider. It carried everything from shit to nukes. It could carry more than a B-17. I've always liked these as they look big and nasty.

More than a B-17? Would never have thought that.

Pretty epic exhaust staining there. I'm not much of an aviation guy but have seen plenty of aero models in FSM etc and if I had seen weathering like that I would of thought the guy was way over doing it.

A B-17 is loaded down pretty well before it starts and range played a part on how much you could carry. B-17 could carry about 2800kgs over 3200kms where the Skyraider could go about 2000kms with 3500kgs. Short range the B-17 could carry 3500kgs about 700kms. For a single engine bird it could haul a lot and stay up for 10 hours.
The staining is oil so it's a case maybe of fill the oil and check the fuel lol.

Massive for a single seater, single prop aircraft too. Its success in Vietnam essentially gave rise to the A-10 too which is, of course, a very good thing.
