The roof line on the Stang is a little ruined seeing it needed to be lifted for the roll cage. But then again they could boot Tander out and put a height limit in!

Well they are half way there with that, I think the Giz is about as tall though (a big reason why the are now team mates)Dr. Pain wrote:The roof line on the Stang is a little ruined seeing it needed to be lifted for the roll cage. But then again they could boot Tander out and put a height limit in!

I think they very nearly got Caruso but then jumped at Tander when he became available. Imagine the dicky seat for Caruso in SVG's car.

Re: Supercars 2019
Confirmation that Garry Jacobson will join Kelly Racing has competed the grid for the 2019 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.
Kelly Racing was the last to confirm its drivers with Andre Heimgartner returning for a second year while Jacobson steps up after six years in the Dunlop Super2 Series.
As previously reported, Richie Stanaway has replaced Garth Tander at Garry Rogers Motorsport in a shock move that was announced last month.
Lee Holdsworth has joined Tickford Racing while Mark Winterbottom has filled Holdsworth’s seat at Team 18.
The only other change sees Macauley Jones move into the #21 vacated by the retiring Tim Blanchard.

Re: Supercars 2019
Note that Erebus had to pack up early due to the car being too loud.... apparently nothing has changed on the car for three years.

Re: Supercars 2019
Other teams were also told they were too loud and were able to make changes on the day. Could be the track noise limits have changed, or they changed their detection system. Lakeside got shut down a few months ago due to noise limit breaches, so other tracks might be taking less chances.

Erebus was among a number of teams found to be exceeding Phillip Island's 95dB noise limit during the morning’s running.
While others elected to tweak their cars to reduce noise, Erebus CEO Barry Ryan said Erebus opted against making any changes.
"We ticked all the boxes we wanted to tick, or the majority of them," Ryan said of his team’s test.
"We got told mid-morning that the cars were too loud, and we don't have a solution to fix them.
"We sort of pushed through as long as we could until they said, basically, we couldn't go on with it, so we're going home."

Re: Supercars 2019
New regulations are set to be introduced into the 2019 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship in an attempt to clarify ambiguities in pit stop procedures from last season.
During last year’s ITM Auckland SuperSprint television cameras caught the rear wheels on Shane van Gisbergen’s car turning while it was receiving service.
After an overnight deliberation officials deemed it was not a breach as the wheel had not completed a full rotation, leaving van Gisbergen as winner of the race.
Then, at the season-ending Coates Hire Newcastle 500 the factory Holden squad was investigated for a different issue, also involving van Gisbergen, which saw the Kiwi penalised.
In that instance it surrounded the refueling hose, which was connected to the car when it was dropped to the ground.
To address the latter, a clause has been inserted into the sport’s Operations Manual, specifically covering instances where the fuel nozzle is connected as the car is lowered.
Article 26.6.3.2(b) reads: “If a Car is lowered to the ground prior to the fuel deliver hose of the Refuelling Tower being decoupled the Car must be raised immediately until the Refuelling has been completed and the fuel deliver hose of the Refuelling Tower decoupled.”
Supercars’ Head of Motorsport, Adrian Burgess, believes the amendments are common sense to close off the incidents witness last year.
“Clearly, you have to learn from the incidents of every year,” Burgess told Speedcafe.com.
“The two very public incidents at the end of the year, we’ve looked at those rules, and we’ve tried to tidy them up, but you can’t just focus on those two.
“Every event, every incident during the year is worthy of being looked at, and if we can improve it, then we improve it.”
“I think the (changes) are a good step forwards for creating a safer environment for the mechanics and the drivers and all the people in pit lane, but equally trying to protect the show,” he added.
“We don’t end up with a battle in the courtroom like we ended up in last year.”
Though the Operations Manual includes only minor changes to the wording surround wheel rotation during pit stops, Supercars has confirmed a line locker will be allowed to essentially lock the wheel in place while the car is in the air. It’s understood the change was agreed upon at a meeting of the Supercars Commission last week but has yet to find its way into the published regulations.

All very sensible, I like having Burgess (and Campbell Little?) on the other side of the fence, can only be a positive.

Re: Supercars 2019
First 500 that I have not attended - I have only missed two days total in the first 20 events.
But with the race at the Bend in August I can do something different at this time of year and go to the Phillip Island historics next weekend instead.
Still, feels really weird, like I am cheating or something.

Re: Supercars 2019
I didn’t go today but am going the next three. Just wish it wasn’t torture like hot though!!
Definitely looking forward to seeing the series again however.
I caught the last 10 minutes of the practice session tonight on tv. Just me or did the Mustang look really odd out there?
Like a larger shaped Aussie Racing Car alongside full sized sedans. I appreciate the wide/low Mustang body does not fit the common chassis requirements of the category.
Not sure if it’s cause it looks shit or I’m just adjusting to change....

Re: Supercars 2019
It's very oddly shaped to fit the existing dimensions. The roof is higher and rounder, the bonnet is shorter and slopes downward from the windscreen. The road going car has a long flat bonnet that slopes only when it gets closer to the front edge. Also the cabin seems too far forward. It's an odd looking car. It's like a Mr Potato Head of 3 cars combined.

Add the crazy heat and I know where ide rather be.

I agree with you guys about the shape of the Mustang, it's not quite right due to the current control chassis regs but I still like what they have done.

I still love the series, watched every round last year, just the logistics of getting to the 500 is tougher now.KNAPPO wrote:I know what you mean. My dream was to hit the 500, the Historics then the GP in consecutive weekends but that one will have to wait for a few years now. Plus having the show return to SA at the Bend in August makes it easier to skip the 500 - and if it all sounds like I'm madly trying to convince myself of this you are spot on - especially as I know there is a seat there waiting for me if I wanted.

They’re blunt about not wanting to ‘bastardise’ the Camaro like they have the Mustang.Duke wrote:I agree with you guys about the shape of the Mustang, it's not quite right due to the current control chassis regs but I still like what they have done.

I wish it could look better but for the sake and future of the series I’m thankful that Ford have continued their support.
