I'm looking forward to seeing how a modern F1 car goes around Mugello, it could be quite spectacular but not sure it will generate good passing opportunities.

It'll be cool to watch them around an old school style circuit without tarmac runoffs everywhere. Bit worried it could be a Barcelona style procession, but the main straight is slightly longer than at Monza so who knows. A 2 stop race would help but we might also get a safety car or 2 for cars stuck in the gravel.

The safety car will be classified at this rate. It's a cracking track for bikes but F1 is interesting so far.

Kvyat summoned to the stewards over the restart crash. I suspect they'll question whether he went and then stopped and went again which you're not supposed to do. But then most of the other cars in this clip did the same. If he gets more than an 11s penalty, Russell will get a point for Williams

Re: 2020 Formula 1 Pirelli Gran Premio Della Toscana Ferrari 1000
Entertaining race. It felt like one from the old days with people getting stuck in gravel and a chunk of the grid not finishing. A real shame Max went out to spice things up at the front though.
The warning seems a bit pointless. The nature of a restart means you're going to go whenever the driver in front looks like they might or you'll drop back, so I can't imagine they'll do anything differently next time.
Did anyone think Bottas didn't quite know what he wanted to do and procrastinated until he ran out of road? It was a bit weird.

Re: 2020 Formula 1 Pirelli Gran Premio Della Toscana Ferrari 1000
I think Bottas knew Hamilton would probably get him in to T1 so by using half of the straight up before booting it reduced the tow Hamilton could get.
It was interesting though that he called for different tyres to give him an option but sadly he pitted first which meant the plan went to cock but I wonder if he's finally realising he isn't going to win when the pit strategy is just the same as Hamilton but 1 lap later.

While slightly entertaining for the amount of crashes & how spectacular the cars are around Mugello it really wasn't a great race.
Once again the Merc's dominated & practically fought it out on each restart with the same outcome as usual. Bah!!!

Oddly enough I think there was more passing at Mugello than Monza, which you'd think would be the other way around given there's only 1 DRS zone at Mugello. I enjoyed all the races there over the weekend.

Biggest take away from the weekend for me was, I miss gravel traps.Duke wrote:While slightly entertaining for the amount of crashes & how spectacular the cars are around Mugello it really wasn't a great race.
