I found with GT3 though that I didn't drive about 90% of the cars. I found a decent car and specced it up and that did me for several race types.

Sometimes less is more.

GT3 had far too many boring race variations. Lots of laps in a 1 litre Jap hatch etc. You tend to get into the fast stuff as quickly as possible and don't often go back. I'd rather have a list of a good mix of cars instead of dozens of different Skylines and RX7s etc.

hmmm.. good point..
Forza will have damage for all vehicles too.
How good it is and if it impacts on the handling of the vehicles remains to be seen.

Forza will supposedly only let you upgrade the cars as you would be able to in real life. Not the almost random upgrades of cars in the GT series. If you can buy a bolt on supercharger for an NA car in real life then you should be able to supercharge your car in Forza. Also you will be able to do engine swaps that people are doing in real life - like chucking the Lexus V8 into the IS200.

It sounds very interesting. I hope it turns out well. Although I'll be playing both GT4 and Forza quite a bit I think.

FFS if this can get Porsche & Ferrari why can't fucking $ony with their Megabucks. The GT series will always be incomplete without them in my opinion and by the way where the hell is Lamborghini both in this and GT4.

If this Forza is significantly better than PGR2 I may have to buy another XBox.

There are big licensing issues with Lambo's, dude. GTR's big patch was supposed to include the Diablo but it couldn't be released because someone has exlusive rights to it. Damn shame as it was fun to drive, had proper, analogue dials and sounded awesome.

I don't understand why Sony can't get Ferrari & Porsche - unless Microsoft have some sort of exclusive console license for them.

I hate all this exclusive license bullshit. Talk about anti-competitive...

Actually one can thank the car companies :) before gt came out late nineties most games companies payed tidy sums of money to car companies to include their current product into games. of course gt changed all that and there is now a fight of the car companies to have as many car s as possible included, because they know a certain percentage of their client will make their purchase decision on a playstation. lol. true.

in the case of porsche i know for sure that EA approached Porsche and offered them a whole lot of money for exclusive rights to have them in electronic games for either 5 or 10 years .... Porsche these days is kicking themselves because they only later realised what this meant :)

Im not sure with ferrari, but a number of publishers (sega, acclaim, microsoft) seem to have them in their games, but there are nowhere on sonys consumerbox...

There are many ways around this tho for example you can licence 'raceteams' which happen do race porsches and then its legally ok to have them...

its a horrible world of lawers and crosspromotional arsekissing... im not sure howmuch people in this field think of racing enthusiasts :P
