***SPOILER. Marcos Ambrose in the USA***

Post by David Piglos Shaw »

For those that want to see if Ambrose is as good as he thinks he is, here are the results for his first race in Craftsman Trucks. The fact that he finished is a good sign, (a record 16 caution periods for a total of 87 laps) although he must have got tangled up with someone along the way, as he finished 33rd still running with 198/250 laps completed. He qualified 20th of 36.

I never really followed Marcus's move, what sorta team is he in? A top one?

Why did he leave v8's to race in those trucks, seems weird (tho im sure its about the $)

probably change of flavour. I always think have a few years in one area then move on. Need to diversify experiences

i think the trucks is an intro to ovals before he steps up to stock cars...

I dont really like him as a person, from the way he was presented or presented himself on TV.

However, no denying he could race. I also hope he hands out some woopass to the yanks...

disagree with that in some ways. I think he was chucked in at the deep end as it is. CTS is a very competitive series with so many up and coming drivers racing with former cup car drivers. Someone has a lot of faith in his ability to allow him to start his oval career in such a high category.

I hope he does well, but that could be my other head speaking for me of course :tilt:

brief run down of his weekend.

he started out well being 12th in one of the practice sessions. Eventually qualified 20th and ended up 33rd and last truck running on the track. He ran into trouble (namely 2 trucks) on lap 151 after staying on the lead lap and seemingly out of trouble (yet to watch it/download/torrent). 2 trucks crashed up ahead of him, nowhere to go. Was as high as 14th, but was in 29th when he holed the radiator and oil lines/radiator.

Here's a video of his crash.

Ambrose is in the White Number 20 truck.

Is it just me, or does racing tail happy barges around a circle look like the most boring thing ever?

Maybe not ever, but seriously... there's not a lot of skill involved... just a lot of luck and a good car.

...and you'd think after doing 1000's of fucking laps around a track with 2 sometimes 3 or even 4 corners, you would be able to do it without crashing.

Maybe that's why it's so big in the states :) Catering to the masses :P

as with any form of motorsport, nearly all of us, given some practise, could drive one. But to drive the vehicles as close to the limit with out going over, is where the skill is involved, and where we would get our arses handed to us on a platter.

cheers
