yeah i guess that's what it is :\SHoNKY wrote: Squarely aimed at the tradies, and it hits the mark. Love it.
i remember that pie ad of two bogan tradies sitting in a ute orgasming over their pie and looking at two business-men in a restaurant with disdain "they don't know what they're missin" i've had thousands of pies in my life, loved most of them, can tell you i'd still rather have a good meal in a restaurant.
the ads are great at making aussies feel good about being mediocre.

and speaking of pies, i was savagely hungry the other day so i got a couple from a servo (which i hate doing) and they were wrapped in plastic. now that's fine, but for fuck sake can't the operator just type in PIE, or is it a requirement for their stinky fat fingers to manhandle and poke my lunch for 30 seconds trying to get the barcode lined up properly?
it really isn't conducive to my appetite.

nice thread hijack ash... I love a good hijack...
Pie's... never liked them, never will... would also be most displeased with any servo chick poking her fingers around anything I have that is packaged... but back to pie's. Worked for 18 months in a place that manufactures them... totally justified my decision to "never" eat any...
I have worked in a few high profile food prep places, and for the most part staggered by how good they are, but then we hit the ol pie manufacturer... a quite large well known one for that also... and yep... they are off my list for good. the two guys inside that restaraunt were only envious if they were intending to commit suicide, as eating a pie is more efficient than driving a car off the harbour bridge...
Anyway, nice car ad, gotta go get ready, Mr Frothy is due to swing by my street soon, gotta go limber up....

Ash, if ur back up this way. ill point you in the direction of the best "meat" pie you'll ever eat. Packed full of real meat, real gravy. and they're served in small brown paper bags. they don't handle them after cooking. Pair of tongs, straight into your hand and into your mouth.
They also have the advantage of being right next to the a butchery. so they get the prime cuts.

yar, over a decade ago i used to do some stuff in the food section of the health dept, and i used to read the biopsy reports (or whatever) of all the foods that were tested.bengatta wrote:...back to pie's. a certain pie which is still my favourite came back as not quite passing the standard, which is 100gm of meat for every 1kg of product... ie, 10% of any pie must contain some actual meat.
still, they taste great, in the end i don't really care what is in a food, as long as it tastes good and is appetising then that's all that matters to me!

the worst is the one next to the BP, but some of us were just too hungry to throw our food away.

The one i like to frequent is tucked out of the way near the industrial area of town. so they don't have to cater to the pompous asses who want a late (sp?) as well.
its more frequented by the tradies, who always know a good place for a hot pie
