Olympics
Always enjoy the winter games, more so than the summer ones. Usually its the Toboggan and the Luge that are my faves and strangly curling. All up there is just more to see than the summer games. However, the Luge might be a little different this year as Georgia lost an athlete in Practice. They are not sure when the track will be open for competition. I can't remember the last time there was a death at the Olympics.

i have seen the footage and i was amazed that they have big metal poles right next to the track. I bet it's fixed before anyone else goes back out.

I heard they changed the start position for the mens so they don't get to the same speed. But still you go from around 100 kph to 0 in a short distance it is going to killyou.w00dsy wrote:i have seen the footage and i was amazed that they have big metal poles right next to the track. Re: Olympics
yea winter over summer for me too. Although you have to wonder what this one qualifies as when they have to truck in the snow....
pretty dissapointed with the layout for some events though, like the speed skating and moguls, you can get eliminated on the first day of competition before you have really seen the track.
Same with the downhill skiing, some of our people didnt even get a full practice run on the track. All the top 5 all had two complete runs from top to bottom. pretty sad and shitty standards that dont allow everyone the same opportunity.

Australia aren't leaving empty handed now. Adopted Aussie, Dale Begg Smith got a silver in the men's moguls.

Re: Olympics
I find the winter games far more interesting than the summer games. Who wants to see people run and swim when you can see them ski down a hill at a couple of hundred klicks or get some massive air? That said, I'll still probably only watch an hour or two in total.

I was watching that with my sister and brother-in-law. I jokingly said this will be an epic failure... and then... well, it was an epic failure.Nigel wrote:I laughed my arse off at the comedy of errors that was Australia 1. Poor bastard.
