Woodsy blew a valve!
Well, old age caught up with woodsy. The poor bastard had a heart attack yesterday. I have had a few text chats with him and spoke to Jacqui last night. He has had a stent put in and told me last night once the drugs started to wear off he felt pretty good.
If you have him on Facebook or Discord, shoot him a message to cheer the poor bastard up.

Re: Woodsy blew a valve!
Thanks for the love gents. I've had a lot of people contact me to send their best wishes and it's been very humbling. I appreciate it a lot. Fortunately I seem to have gotten lucky and not damaged my heart at all. So now that the stent is in and I have the right medications it's up to me to change my unhealthy ways and try and get a few more years under my belt. For a long time I've not cared about life and what damage my unhealthy habits have done, but it seems to have flicked a switch in me and made me determined to drop a bunch of weight, be more active and enjoy life. I never want to go through that pain again, and seeing my families worry at the thought of losing me has been a real eye opener. They were all strong around me the day it happened but they admitted that they all broke down that night. I can't put them through that again.

Re: Woodsy blew a valve!
That's awesome.
I know partly what you're currently going through as my mum had a stroke 3 weeks ago (she's doing ok and everything is coming back, she's 80% back to normal and improving every day) but these things make you realise your family and friends are not immortal.
If you go, who is going to give us shite photoshop puns!
I hope if you need a carer to feed you, it's Reece... with a spoon

Yes, it is an emotional time on both sides. Make sure you do the rehab, it seems a bit lame but the idea is to drive the message well & truly in.w00dsy wrote: ↑Sat Nov 26, 2022 6:18 pm Thanks for the love gents. Re: Woodsy blew a valve!
Yeah I'm definitely doing rehab. I'm following every little instruction they give me to make sure it doesn't happen again. My mood has been really positive ever since it happened but I broke down in the shower today. It really hit me how close I was to dropping an atomic bomb on my family.
On the plus side i'm super excited about exploring new foods that I've never really delved into too much and dropping weight and feeling better.

Re: Woodsy blew a valve!
Yeah home now after 5 days in hospital. Apart from having 6 different tablets to take every day I feel great. Having the pipe opened up has suddenly made me feel 20 again, so clearly I'd been on a slow decline that I hadn't noticed until I was suddenly fixed. I just assumed I was getting older and more fatigued easier.
It feels weird to say this but I think the heart attack has been a good thing because they sorted my physical health out, and it seems to have snapped me out of the mental funk that I'd got myself into. I was just going through the motions and was probably only doing the minimum I had to do. I've got a different mindset now.
The only thing that really suffered was I couldn't walk very far straight afterwards without having to catch my breath. There was markers around the cardiac ward to let you know how far you walked and 80m was my limit initially. By the time I left the hospital I was doing the full 160m lap every hour without any issues, so that all came back pretty quickly. I now do a couple of 30mins walks with the dog every day and it's no problem at all. I think I'm actually slightly fitter than I was beforehand. I just have to make sure I follow the program and not over do anything until I get the go ahead from the doctor.
Also a new diet has helped all that too. I'm 9kg down and that's helped a lot.

Good one Woodsy - that's how I felt after getting on some medication to open my arteries. Felt I had been running down gradually.

Re: Woodsy blew a valve!
That's brilliant news. Well done.
I'm sure opening up the tubes means you have more blood flow, more oxygen, more everything going round so it makes sense that you're reinvigorated by it.
Keep it up.
